When I stop at a light and put the bike in neutral, then put it in first, you hear the usual clunk. As I let the clutch out and begin to move,it will jump and clunk again as if it wasn't in gear all the way. It only does it when I put it in neutral, if I leave it in gear it's fine.Any help out there?

Pat Mullaney?

Mike Powell and I still talk about you when we hook up. Great to see you posting, even if it is for a problem.

Sounds like you might need a shift pawl adjustment to start with, Pat. Or it could be a galled pin in a shift fork, or a cocked detent plate... no telling.

Break that bad boy open and have a look see... well within the capabilities of a guy like you. I did some transmission work on my M2... easy as pie man.

Let me know how it works out... I'll probably be gone till after this weekend, but I'll come back to this thread.

Sure is cool hearing from you Pat... you're one of the originals.

Danny (the guy with the blue M2 - it's silver now).

Danny
I see you still have your M2 too. Tore mine apart this weekend and found one of the pins in the detent plate backed out.Put some marks on it with a punch and some loctite and taped it back in. put a new detent plate and clip on too. That clip is a joke! Took the tranny out while I was there and inspected it as good as I could without taking it apart.Seems to be good for now, but not sure how long it will be before the pins move again.Don't ride the old buell as much as I did , started riding motocross about three years ago with my daughter and it takes most of my weekend riding time. Stll having fun though. Might see you in Oct if I'm not racing that weekend.
Pat
