I don't doubt that the person who called BUK told you PRECISELY what they reported. Try calling The White House and asking when the troops are coming home. I suspect the "spokesperson" was an answering service paid to answer the phones. Even if it were the Director of HDE it's the type of topic, because something would surely get lost in translation, that they'd not discuss with an owner. The proper response from ANYONE at HDE would be "contact your authorized Buell dealer". It makes good sense. |

I'm a UK owner of a 1125R and have been following this discussion closely. I Spoke to my dealer today about the recall and they maintain that they have had no contact from Buell UK on this matter. Please Erik and Co, put some pressure on Buell UK to do something about this as UK owners are getting annoyed about this situation, we also spent our hard earned money for your product, but it seems nobody cares about us. |

Any chance my recall work could be done at Homecoming? Wasn't sure if they would be set up to do stuff like that during all the festivities... |

I stopped off at Uke's during my ride today to check on the status of parts availability for the recall. They told me the parts were available, and offered to do the service while I waited. Awesome! I was very pleased with the level of customer service and the commitment to get things right. Now I'm all set for a while. George |

UK owners, the Buell market there is larger than the market here in the states, so be assured that Buell cares about you guys, a lot. Mike |

Incorrect. You've no idea who I spoke to at BUK. It was a person who previously contacted me to discuss issues concerning the Reflash. However, 'We've heard nothing about this', may be a little ambiguous! (Message edited by crowley on June 29, 2008) |

>>>Any chance my recall work could be done at Homecoming? Not unless you contact a local dealer. The work, by law, MUST be done by a dealer just like prescribed on the recall notice and in accord with FMVSS. Buell is not an authorized dealer. Same reason they can not make factory deliveries. I'll be the guys in Britain wish they had Matt back. I worked with him while I was working at Buell and we were able to pull off some amazing things. I don't know the facts surrounding Buell UK but if a person drew any conclusions from what they read on the internet it's certainly a group in need of some leadership. |

Is this a typical "constant mesh" transmission, where one of the two 5th gears is not splined to it's shaft and unless it is engaged with a gear beside it,by shifting into 5th gear, it's always rotating on it's shaft? If so,this gear and shaft would be more likely to sieze, if it was going to, riding in any but 5th gear??? So,unless i,m wrong(which i very well may be,i've never seen a diagram of the transmission)when the Buell bulletin said 5th gear might lock up on it's shaft,it did'nt mean that riding in 5th was when the problem was occurring.I think the problem could be happening while engaged in any gear except 5th (while the one 5th gear is freewheeling on it's shaft) (Message edited by mingo on June 29, 2008) |

Hey guys, I just got my Recall letter in the mail...I moved recently so I guess it had to be sent around for a bit before they found my right address. Anyways, Ive also been getting the slow leak from my clutch cover that I want to get fixed while ive got it in for the recall. Anyone remember how many shop hours it took for them to do the clutch cover o-ring thingy? Im gonna try and get my bike in at the beginning of the week so I can at least have it back by friday night or saturday. |

I plan on rolling both fixes into one also. I told Max that so he doesn't have to feel rushed to do it in .6 hours... Warranty jobs never pay for the poor wrench. After I get back from Homecoming... Z |

Clutch cover comes off to do the jet recall. Should be able to knock both out at the same time, in the same 0.6 hours, by simply discarding the old o-ring and installing the new o-ring on reassembly. If anyone would like to know if their VIN is affected, either PM me or email your full VIN to me at jgoetz@hdoffrederick.com and I will run it for you as quickly as I can. After hours, PM will work best as I don't have work email access at home. |

Called my dealer, they got two kits in last week and put one on their demo bike and one on a customer's bike who came in on Friday. I have a return call in to the guy who called from Buell to see if they are requiring the recall in order to run on Friday. I guess I could put a catch can on the breather for the RS and run it (the XB has <500 miles so I won't be tracking it) |

Per HD/Buell CS they recommend the update before a track day but will not be requiring it. They will also be working on getting my dealer another kit maybe tomorrow for me. |

Josh: Do any of the other STL Buell dealers have any kits they could "loan" to your dealer? Just a thought. What a better way to break in the XB than on the track ;+} (Momma would probably have something to say about it too LOL). Later Neil S. |

The service guy might be trying that. He said dealers can't "swap" recall kits, but the 3 area dealers have the same owner so maybe they can "borrow" one Josh |

No time, I have to get it done during work hours and the other dealers are too far away. My dealer should have the parts tomorrow, hopefully I can make it. |

You do not have to go to your selling dealer, if another dealer has a kit. Dealers receive kits based on the number of affected units they have in circulation (sold) or inventory. Any dealer can order "more" kits than their initial shipment, but it may take time to get them. Dealers can exchange kits, but there is more paperwork involved than the usual "I'm selling this to you, here's your invoice" papers. It may be more time-effective to visit a dealer with a kit in stock. For Homecoming-bound folks (and I have no idea what their service schedule is so please don't take this to mean they have the free time) you could try calling Hal's or another dealer local to HC, with your VIN, and see if they can order a kit for you for install upon arrival in WI. Again, though, I have no idea if Hal's or any other dealers in the area even have time to do the services...but it may be worth a phone call. |

Called my dealer today, and after being on hold for a few minutes (they had to go find out about the recall) they said they had parts, BUT couldn't get me in cause they didn't have the "special tool" needed to do the job. So, to those of you that work at dealerships, what special tools are needed for this?? |

Well we in the UK are being well and truely stitched up, still not heard anything and the official line at customer services is that there is nothing on their systems about it - it's been nearly 2 weeks now and we are still being kept in the dark - I have in the past defended Buell - but this is souring things somewhat ! |

One punter on UKBEG, who I presume has an x1 White Lightning, is calling his a 1125 White Elephant The dealers know nothing useful (not their fault) and Customer Services won't comment. The 1125 is rapidly gaining an unwarranted reputation in the UK. A great shame after the effort Erik and Co have put into it, Buell UK are letting the team down (again) |

Buell UPS'ed the jet overnight and my dealer (Gateway HD Buell, St Louis) installed over my lunch break. Gotta love a good dealer and Buell CS came through for me again. |
