Round two in Calgary june 26-29. This track has a really long straight stretch so the I-4's will surely have a big advantage on the straight. Too bad this wasn't slated for later in the season. The boys figure they should be able to get the 1125 up to about 170 hp near season's end! Hope they have a rear slick figured out.

Go Steve go!

To paraphrase Michelle Obama, for the first time in my life, I'm proud to be a Canadian...

Vive Le Crevier!!!

And we all thought in the first race a top 10 finish would be a miracle. Granted, this track is made for HP, but I would not count out the Buell. Surprised, not shocked, would be my reaction if Crevier finished top 10 in Calgary. I think a top 10 here would be as impressive (or more impressive possibly) than the podium in Race 1.

On this track:

I can't begin to imagine a bike -40 in HP can be competitive.

The track's 2 miles, so that means that straight has got to be close to 0.8 miles.

It's too bad the new engine's not ready yet. This track looks to be the toughest in the series for an underpowered bike.

As good as Crevier is, I think it will be optimistic to hope for a top 10 in this particular race.

You can't fight physics.

With that said: Go Steve C.!!!

At one point, there was talk that there would be a "second rider". Anyone have any info on that?

Will we have to wait for that until the new engine is ready? Has anyone heard any more about when the new engine would be ready? Will it really be a "new engine", or will it be a gradual phase-in of components over the season?

Calgary is a drag strip with a kinky return road; it escapes me how it can be called a "road-race course".

I guess the small market reality makes it uneconomic to built a proper circuit. Sigh....

How about most of the roads. I grew up in Lubbock. Except for intersections, I think you had to drive 300 miles to find a curve.

Try maps.live.com for

race city calgary, alberta

The imagery is interesting. Once in, have a look at the birds eye view and zoom in.

Which way is the road course run clockwise or counter clockwise?

"....West Texas roads."

Spent a lot of kidhood in Throckmorton and surrounding areas. Most "curves" involved a turn from a state highway to a farm-to-market road.

I am making the 3.5 hour ride down tomorrow to catch the races - hopefully get into the pits and talk to the boys, maybe score some free swag!

Crevier's 3 seconds off the pace at the 10 spot:

Not too bad considering the track, but he probably doesn't have a real chance at a podium. He should be able to at least pick up some points and make a respectable showing.

With tighter tracks and more power coming in future races the best is yet to come.

+1....I was actually pleasantly surprised at the practice times....remember last race the Buell kept getting better and better vs. the field.

. . . and not just last race, but in other races I've seen Crevier run, he tends to start slow and gradually move through the field.

He's a very smart rider and learns as he goes. And even though he has some experience on the bike now, I'm sure he has a LOT to learn still.

That might give us some hope that he can move up a few spots, but - truth be told - I'd be thrilled if the final results match these practice results.

I wrote this particular race off on the day I saw the HP values for the first race and saw the map of this course.

no. But apparently there is some HD coverage on TSN in the Fall. Hopefully, we can get a copy somehow...or I hear that a DVD of the season comes out as well. I know I will try my damndest to get ahold of these races somehow.

Here's a shot of Darren James practicing for Canadian Thunder. Gives a better view of the new Deeley paint scheme. Very eye-catching:

. . . and I'm not sure who this rider is, but it looks like it must be a rider for Calgary Harley.

I like this paint job. Similar to the colors of the XBRR:

Crevier qualifies to participate in the Superpole this afternoon! I'd say this is an accomplishment in itself.

I am in Calgary. Just spent the afternoon chatting with the guys from all 4 (YES I SAID 4) teams racing Buells here. Deeley, Calgary HD, a local privateer, and a team from Ontario. Crevier took time out after qualifying to chat with me, very down to earth, he couldn't believe I already have 8500 kms on my 1125! Got some good pics will post when I get home after the weekend, will take more tomorrow during the races!

spotted an 1125 with a Hindle exhaust....may hear it run tomorrow.

Saron exhaust sounds SOOOO good. Drummer is just too loud lol....

updates tomorrow!
