My reflash lasted 5.5 hours while I waited. I finally got fed up and told them to give me a computer with internet access. After 60 seconds on badweb they were done in 10 minutes.

Kits should be arriving into dealers, we got our first ones today, 2 of them. The install instructions look a little more intensive than can be done in .6 hours.

Odin - go to H-Dnet.com and do a search for recall 0834, the bulletin will come up, it's about a six pager and very thorough.

Somewhere between 0.5 and 5.0 hours. YRMV depending on your karma, and the karma of your technician ;+}

I'm the 1st to call my dealer on the recall. I'm first on the list and they're going to schedule my appointment as soon as they know when the parts are coming in. When it gets done I'll let you know how long it took.

They have a computer with internet access in their lounge, which also happens to have a big window into the shop. So if they work on it close enough to the window, and facing the right way, I might even be able to give a blow-by-blow.

Got the recall letter yesterday, and the wife kinda freaked out. Called the dealer right after and they had no idea what the recall was about, so I gave them the number and some info about it. They called back 15 minutes later with a scheduled installation time for next week. They already had the part but nobody knew what it was for, just needed an open slot, so Wednesday next week is the earliest time they could work it in.

Also getting the intake solenoid eliminator and having it flashed at the same time. Is 2 hours cool down time enough? I was planning on getting there early to let it cool off.

My bike is at the dealer for a cluster problem and they are doing the recall also. I looked at the recall parts and procedure with the service manager and looks simple to me. Hopefully I will get the bike back today or tomorrow.

Harley Davidson called me today at home to ask me if I was still planning on attending the track day at the Buell 25th. I ask why, and they were wondering if I was going to take the blast, the SS, the Uly or the 1125R. I told them before I canceled my plans to go, I was planing on taking the 1125r and they ask if I would please give the recall done first before I attended the meet if I decided to go. I guess they cross reference people that had signed up with 1125R owners.
That I thought was pretty considerate. A little weird that HD called and not Buell(you'd think Eric would have called ), but it got the job done.
Great Customer Service!

Cancelled your trip, Bear? Guess I don't have to put the back seat in the truck for you then...lol.

What class were you signed up for? If you weren't in advanced, I may know a guy with a red S2 who'd be interested in your slot...

no advanced, the girl called me earlier this week and let me know that not enough people signed up for advanced and i would be riding in intermediate as there would be no advanced group at this trackday. also got a call today concerning the recall for 1125 5th gear and Matt was going to schedule the service for me in wisconsin.

From h-dnet.com:

June 27, 2008

To: All Dealers

Subject: Updates on wave shipments of the 0834 Recall kits, part number 94678Y

All Dealers:

We have successfully shipped approximately 1500 of the total requirements for the 0834 recall via wave shipments since this voluntary campaign was announced.

Check with your dealers. We've got 2 sitting here now (Pete - one's for you) and further down the letter they state it will be a first-ordered first-out,
ship-to-order setup from here on out.

"Buell" left a message today about taking my 1125R to the track day next Friday. No ultimatums, but I have no idea how I will have time to get the recall done on Mon or Tues.

Can you even hit 5th on Blackhawk under "racing" conditions?

Book time is only 0.6 hours. Figure 1.5 clock hours on a lift to be safe. I've looked at the procedure and it's pretty straightforward, so if you can get an appointment and they have the part, I'd say your window is entirely do-able.

I suspect, if "Buell" is calling folks about getting it done prior to the track day, they're going to be checking VIN status at tech. Just a supposition...

I was going to run a locate for you in MO, but it comes up as nothing showing in dealers so I guess that particular PN isn't logged into the locator database yet. Sorry... Ours came in on Weds, though, and they shipped starting on Monday, so a 2 day transit time tells me just about any dealer who has or sold affected 1125s will have them in stock at this point.

We don't have parts yet at High Country H-D/B, but with the conditions of the problem, I'm not sweating it.
Still planning on riding Loretta to Wisconsin Monday.
Leaving Colorado around noon, will be there by noon Wednesday.

It would be cool of BMC to do the recall and replace my RevA clutch cover once I get there.
Otherwise, I'll have that done when I get home.

BMC has not had the courtesy to alert any UK owners to this Safety Recall. Have any recall kits been sent to Europe yet? The offices of BMC UK know nothing of this problem according to people who have recently contacted them, all the info comes from this site

For those interested, here is the info from the NHTSA.

By the way, for those wondering how many 1125Rs were produced, from this recall it seems that 1579 have been made as of May 30th 2008.

>>>The offices of BMC UK know nothing of this problem

That's inaccurate. They were made aware at precisely the moment that dealers in South Africa, Japan, New Zealand and the United States were.

I'd suggest the lack of communication was on the receiving, not the transmitting end.

Wiggle the wires and call your dealer and ask if they have checked HDNet.

Buell has done an extraordinary job on this of responding and acting quickly.

}Mine is VIN 1871... and it's a march 08 build. Did they skip VIN's or what?

Not sure, I was just going by the fact that all 1125Rs produced to May 30 2008 were recalled and the possible number of affected units being 1579.

My VIN 2690 May 2008 build, that is why I asked for a vin specific range, since my calculator tells me there are 1111 non effected VIN #'s. I have no letter, no phone calls from Buell, HD or dealer. I guess I could call BMC to find out for sure unless someone knows the VIN range...

Regardless of the recall the 1125R ROCKS!!!

V/R,
Nick

If you're calling the 'receiving end', the person who phoned BUK and was told that they've heard nothing, then the information posted is accurately repeated, based on what BUK are telling their customers.
If BUK do know about the recall, I wonder why their spokesperson stated the contrary and would giving an owner innacurate information? I would have assumed informing an owner would be a priority? Surely this is not acceptable on a on a safety issue?

All right, time to get away from the pissing contest, whose customer is whom and so forth. As an Owner, your first contact should be your dealer. Like Court stated, have your dealer look on HD net.

I don't know what other countries have in place like our NHTSA. It will vary from country to country. So the recall process/ procedure will vary

Now that my 1125r has been processed through the recall in slightly less than 60 mins. Everything seems just the same as before the "jet" was installed. Just what I expected.

Color me a satisfied customer. Satisfied with my dealer, Bumpus H-D, and satisfied with the way BMC handled this issue here in the USA.
