So, I was reading a thread and I got to thinking. With EcmSpy, couldn't someone just take a 12 Ecm and burn a 9 eeprom onto it? Also take a Stock ECM and burn a Race ECM onto it? Forgive my stupidity if this is beyond retarded and wouldn't work for some obvious reason I am missing. |

Silence....!!!!!! I'm about to sell my race ECM and don't need this getting out!!!!!!!!!!! I'm pretty sure you are correct though. i'm planning on doing a custom tune to the stock ECM and just selling the race one. |

Yes you can do exactly that. There are a couple of sights where you can download the race map and burn it to your stock ecm. I purchased a spare stock ecm just for that reason. |

Take care that the numbers on the ecms match. Ie gb231 to gb231. If the ecm numbers dont match it wont work. The different ecms have different numbers of locations for information and you may have more information than spaces. Chris |

the stock eprom files are in a different layout on the ecms stocks are mostly ib310 and race is gb231. what you need to do is change the files in the stock to be equlivant to the race. they dont share same data lines but same data in different locations. the only years you can do it is the xb9 stock and race they are the same eeprom chips. all other yoers need to be manually changed. |
