But not really, does anyone use headphones while riding? If so what do you use, I have a xm radio I use on long trips and the headphones I have (in-ear style) don't like to say in my ears with the helmet is on. I'm just wondering if anyone else out there has run into this problem and has fixed it and with what. | ||

I haven't listened on the bike yet but I use an IPOD during the winter on the sled. Yeah those ear buds are a pain...some with foam covers would stay in better. Good luck and be safe. | ||

A lot of the newer communication systems have an Aux/MP3 input. Maybe that would work well for you? They have speakers designed for helmets. | ||

There has been a lot of talk about this in the past, if you do a search, you might get some good info. I started using the Koss "Spark Plug" type - they're like $20 - you roll them like regular earplugs and put them in. I was about 85% satisfied, but they would get hung up putting on my helmet sometimes. I have now been using Etymotic ER6i headphones - a bit expensive, but great sound quality, and, more important - I have yet to have them pull out while putting my helmet on. I have a set of sony headphones currently with the rubber plug type fitting on them they work great and sound really good but once I get my helmet on they will literally roll right out of my ears. this morning I stopped and got coffee on my way to work and noticed the new issue of motorcyclist took note to the cover that said 25 years of buellishness. So I had to grab it, after skimming the mag in the back they had a review of a company that makes headphones specific to your ears. they take a mold of your ear canal and send out the cast and make buds to fit flat against your ear. Well, your best bet would be ones that incorporate foam earplug-esque designs, then. Compressible foam that fits in the ear canal, like the Koss ones mentioned above. ...I'm trying to find a semi-decent set before I leave for Homecoming next Tuesday, at $15 a pop it's no huge loss if they aren't 100% satisfactory. I'm only interested in tunes for trips, not daily riding. | ||

I use a 30 gig Zune and pair if premium Phillips earbud headphones. They have rubber ear cushions that go IN your ear canal instead of just sitting at the outside of it. And because they actually go in the ear canal, they actually STAY in your ear when you put on your helmet. They have a teenee tiny SUB-WOOFER chamber that develops BIG sound in your ear, they sound AWESOME. They are VERY comfortable, unlike most earbud headphones which leave my ears aching after I remove them. I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone who wants a little riding music and MUST wear a helmet. Earphones are illegal while driving/riding in most states. I personally do not like to have my hearing obstructed in any way. If I get into a panic situation I don't want Motorhead blaring in my ears! I like to be very aware of my surroundings. Besides the sound of my motorbike is music to my ears! | ||

I agree with you there ^^^^ the sound is great on the bike and the sled but you listen to tunes in the car or truck don't yah? Sometimes you just need some tunes...not blarring all the time but of course.....SAFETY FIRST!!! | ||

I also have the 30gig zune, and bought the "in ear, Zune plugs" they are A LOT LIKE the Bose noise cancelling earphones. I only have to turn my Zune up to 8 outta 20 to COMFORTABLY listen to anything without cutting out the surrounding sounds. To keep them in my ear, I use a Shammpa helmet protector, kinda like a pair of panty hose material that slips over the top of your head and ears to protect your helmet liner. Works great! Try it | ||

i have a zune also! always ride with it. i use the jvc marshmellows! they to are a inner ear speaker that stays in your ear! 19 bucks to cuz i aint spending the money for the bose! |
