I have finally found enough change in the couch to fund a race kit for my 2001 X1. I need to hear from everyone on which combinations or kits will give me the best results based on their experiences. Let me know... |

I can tell ya what i did to my M2 a little diffrent but you'll get the idea. Started bone stock at 70 rwhp This was a few months ago i re=jetted the carb put a stock modified S2 Air cleaner on (one of thoes CF jobs) with a K&N air filter. Port and polished heads same as a stage three from Nallins but for WAYYYYY less (400$ from my cusion) and pulled 88rwhp with the stock exhaust. No cams nuthin. I just recently wrecked so my front head is being repaired. Just bought a proseries slip on and i am waiting to see what that does with both heads ported. But it is about the same price if you buy a slip on, ECM and intake, and a set of cams. Or the whole race kit no cams. I suggest for the X1 a Full D&D system or race system (Header and muffler) of for a slip on the D&D or ProSeries. Intake the Pro Series or a Forcewinder (they should just come stock every one has one). Of course the Race ECM. and some Andrews N8 cams and if you really want to get wicked without goin to much money Port and polish your heads and slap in some bigger valves. |

Best bang for the buck is the basic stuff: K&N ($68), race ECM ($185) and the full race exhaust ($700) or D&D full exhaust ($600). The D&D is also lighter and doesn't require re-packing. Either ASB or Sport Twin has the review and dyno charts on the performance gains for the D&D with the rest of the race kit. Cams can come later. The difference will still be night and day. |

Go with the factory race kit, substitute the D&D or Force full exhaust systems if you wish. From there you'll be able to upgrade later to Nallinized heads and pistons, high performance cams, a big bore kit whatever. |

LOL...Dave, I think he meant Pro, as in the Pro Series slip-on. Blackbelt's in my BRAG group...the Pro's are what everyone else around here's got and he seems to like 'em. Bryan |

i appriciate the prices Dave, but i can get those here in michigan. So what incentive would i have to buy out side of my usual contacts? Know what i mean, plus Spidy would be a little upset. hehehe Thanks for letting me know though. |

Blackbelt, Not to dis Spidy. I'm sure he's got everything under control there and you should support your dealer if they consistently do right by you. But if not... Incentive #1: Buell Cycle Center is a BadWeB sponsor. Incentive #2: Buell Cycle Center, and Dave himself are VERY pro Buell. Who better to buy race parts from than a guy who actually uses them, and on the track too. Incentive #3: Dave has a great reputation for customer service and integrity in dealing with Buell customers. Incentive #4: The low price and no sales tax. Blake (tryingtogoadspidyintosponsorship) |

OK....I am gonna but in here with reasons to go with Spidy. Notice I am not saying his dealership or a dealership. Go with Spidy. Spidy represents his dealership...BUT...Spidy goes far beyond that. Dealerships are notorious for screwing things up. When they do...and they will, you need a local guy who can get things done. If you have a question or need assistance, you want to be able to call someone on the phone who is cool and will fix whatever the problem is. Spidy will work for you through his dealership. And his dealership is a good one. This is not a dis on Spidys dealership in any way. Now lets say you have a question or want to do something. Spidy will help you to the point of inviting you to his house. Or coming to your house. Sure if you need a part or some specific service Spidy can get you the parts at the same price as everybody else. He can hook you up with the guys at his dealership and put in the good word for you too. But its not about that. Its about knowledge, willingness to help during business hours after business hours....when ever. I met Spidy through Brag. Spidy was my "contact" at the dealership. But Spidy has become a friend. That’s a good Buell representative. There is no way anyone can parallel that by shipping parts to you. Blake I believe you are probably a great guy and very knowledgable. But when I blew off my clutch inspection cover at Milan spidy was there. When I needed help with my ECM (because I am a dumb ass) and it was 10pm during the Redwings cup game. Spidy was there helping me with me stuff. That’s what I’m talking about......please Blake don’t take this as any kind of personal attack. I am just providing reasons why people should go with Spidy. |

It's not about going with me, or Spidey. I've talked to Spidey several times now and he seems like a great guy! Not everyone is lucky enough to have a real Buell guy or gal at their local dealership. Blackbelt and Vertigo690 do. It would be great if all Buellers could say good things about their dealership. If you can't, call me, if you can then by all means support your local dealer. |

Spidy, you left in the middle of the Wings game to help a fellow biker!? That is damn friendly. "He can hook you up with the guys at his dealership and put in the good word for you too." I'd rather him hook me up with his Hooters lady friends. I agree you should go to your local dealer first. You want them to still be around for you when you REALLY need them. Then look elsewhere. For instance, I called all the local shops here in Houston looking for brake discs recently and pads on another occasion. 0 out of 5 had them. So I ordered from a sponsor since they support my BWB habit. But on the other hand the locals can charge too much. And if they don't keep something in stock, they turn around and say "we can order it for you", I go elsewhere too. I don't believe they should make a profit off of me for something they don't keep in stock, when they should. I can order a part over the phone just as easily as they can. Why should I pay them for the privilege to do that for me? I look at it as their punishment for being poorly prepared. Hopefully they will learn a lesson. So far Mancuso and Texan HD haven't learned, so I'll keep punishing them. Plus I don't feel the need to pay Mancuso's prices since the profit seems to go towards funding 2 AHDRA drag bikes, rider's salaries and all other associated costs. I'd rather have less expensive parts and service than support their racing habits, I don't get anything out of it. |

Vertigo690, I agree 100%. You apparently missed my second sentence above? It said "...you should support your dealer if they consistently do right by you." |

X1Glider, You know I work for Republic H-D/Buell in Houston. Please if you ever need anything, please let me know. I try to keep as much Buell stuff in stock as i can. But without a good client base (which I am building fast) it's hard to justify the cost of stuff that sits on the shelf. I will go above and beyond the call of duty to help ANY Buell rider who needs anything! if we need to get parts from other dealers if I don't have it....I'll find it somewhere! Any Buell rider in the Houston area for that matter. I want to be your one stop shop. Thanks Ross Republic H-D/Buell (281-295-1000) ext 109 Ride hard! |

Ross, call you, I will do. As of now you are 2 for 2 with me. You didn't happen to be working the day I last called. The parts I needed were TwinCam parts, not Buell stuff, which is why I was so disappointed with all 5 dealers. It isn't just the Buells that are getting lack of attention these days. That said I will ask for you by name. Which one should I use? hehe Have fun in Dallas, bro. |

I dont know about the rest of you guys, but I can tell you what I did to my '02 x1 after i broke it in at 1500 miles, I chopped my stock intake tube and put a nice K&N cone filter on it, custom built my own muffler ( very similar to a V&H unit), and did the typical Buell race ecm, Accel wires, H-D gold spark plugs and H-D SYN3 fluids for that extra edge.. K&N custom filter..........$85.00 Custom muffler............$100.00 Race ECM, wires & plugs...$250.00 H-D SYN3 fluids............$60.00 Total:$495.00 I did all the installation and fab my self and got my shop to do the dynos for free. I initially started out with: 81 HP 74 TQ and ended up with: 99 HP... so close! 83 TQ Probibly the best thing I could have done for the price. If ya'll give me a while I'll get some pics posted so you can see how the custom fab went. |
