Some closeups of the few changes to Shawn Higbee's bike. Bartels 1125R at Willow Springs.  These are Aluminum inserts formed on an English Wheel and then polished and fit PERFECTLY in the headlight cutouts.    Mitsu , Bartels 1125R Technician.             | ||

It's interesting that they had to relocate the fairing stay forward to fit the steering damper; I got mine to fit just like my XB was, overlayed on the stay and mounted to the stay bolts. I'm using the original XB damper brackets from Woodcraft CFM, it fit right on with only minor modifications. One thing with Higbee's setup you can get the fairing/stay on and off easier without having to mess with the damper, that's a plus! | ||

Actually the fairing was moved forward to fit SHAWN HIGBEE!! He is a tall man and we cut the "ears" off of the fairing because in a tuck, his helmet would hit the edges of the fairing. He would still bounce his helmet off of the windscreen when tucked in. This is something you'd probably never notice on the street but it can be a distraction on the track. Cool pics! | ||

Those headlight blanks are way cool, surely you don't have to have a race license to get those do you?? The machined out levers look cool too, is that a Buell wave rotor?? | ||

Those headlight covers were hand-shaped by a really excellent fabricator that just does custom stuff like that for Bartels. NOT available. Really do look cool however - even close up. Can't say anything about the rear rotor though. I tend to doubt that it'd be a Buell Racing rotor... but that's just me talking. Higbee is doing a TON of work - changing back and forth from the XBRR rear wheel modified to fit (slightly wider and slightly lighter) - that rotor may be leftover from McWilliams (one of the XBRR wheels was run on the McWilliams XBRR - still even had his name on it) | ||

In the hands of a skilled craftsman an english wheel can do amazing things (those beautiful headlight inserts). Do you have any more detailed pictures showing how the stand bobbins are mounted to the swing arm? It appears that a tapped bracket has been welded to the bottom of the swing arm. Thanks, Greg | ||

Gregtonn....your correct!...They welded them to the bottom of the Swingarm.I'll try to blow-up and lighten when i'm doing the next edit. | ||

The whole tail add-on looks billet. No problem adding a bobbin boss. The stock swingarm is so swiss-cheesed it cant hold a bobbin... My take. Those headlight covers are works of art. Z |
