I have a 2002 blast. I only have headers on it. I would like to make it faster, but don't really know what to do. Any suggestions?? |

Welcome Marylandtcgrl! Concur! If all you are talking about is the exhaust and carb. If you want more than that, how much do you want to spend? |

I don't really have a spending limit. I can do a few hundred here and a few hundred there and wait for a couple pay checks to pass for the big ticket items. |

Do you do your own wrenching? EZ |

No I don't. But the guy the lives next to me owns a motorcycle shop, so hes over helping me a lot. I can't really ask his staff questions though, I don't think they know anything about Buell. |

Half the cost is usually labor, however, I've know other female blastards who've done their own work - including putting in their own total stage 3 515cc - Jussibunny was having a Blast with hers - though she did wreck it in the end - she's ok though - she was quite the Bubba Blackwell - and replaced a few front isolators because of it - lol - the Blast is a very simple bike to work on, however, the best improvement you can make on it is to ride it like you stole it and enjoy the ride! When your skills improve enough - then you'll know when its time to improve the bike to match or get another. EZ |

True! I dont know how many miles you've put on your Blast or if you're just interested in acceleration, but I'd concentrate on comfort and fit first. Then we'll help you spend your money! It really helps to have a plan and know if you're going to keep your bike awhile. One mistake people make is to dump a whole bunch of money into their bike (which you generally wont get back), and shortly then buy another bike. You can spend $1000 or $2000 and wind up with the same engine set up (or power). One will lend itself to further mods, while the other is a dead end. Ask yourself, what is your bike missing or what you would you like it to have more of? Personally, I like a higher rpm limit and would choose that over just more power. Or maybe you just want it to handle better. It pays (saves) to have a plan! PS Love your lic plate. Mine would have to say 'mistress'! |

Well... I am REALLY short (only 5') so there arn't many bikes i can fit on. The only other bike I can find that I can fit on is the ducati monster. I love that bike but don't really have the money to drop close to 9k on a new bike. AND i would still need to have it lowerd. Options are very limited being short. I feel like i have grown out of my blast. i have been rideing a little over 2 years now and the blast is just not giving me the kick i want. Speed is what im looking for |

Cams, piston, headwork, ignition. How many miles on your bike? If you can find a Screamin Eagle ignition for the Blast thats your best bet ($250-unfortunately discontinued). Bolts right in, really performs nicely and lets you get the most out of every upgrade. All the other ignitions need some extra mods to make them work-and since you dont do your own wrenching, keeping it as close to stock configuration is best. B50 cams (or Buell Pro Series) bolt right in without any other modification. They have been on sale in the last year. (appx. $200 or less). Once you pull the cylinder head, you might as well do the Piston. (appx. $200-$900 for parts depending on how far you go). I'd start looking for cams and ignition on sale as well as a K & N filter. I'd also get a feel for your mechanic friend on how willing his shop is to work on your Blast. The initial thought (if they'll work on it)is how hard can it be? Then they fail to take the time to do things right. Letting them know about Badweb is a step in the right direction (if they'll listen)! You also didnt say what kind (brand) of shop is it. Just some thoughts for the budget minded that dont do their own wrenching. |

I was looking around at some other blast pictures. I want to change from the 1 head light look. I just don't feel its bright enough for night riding. Thoughts on this? http://www.flyncycle.com/acatalog/Demon_lights.htm l EZ - looks like the one you have. |

Simular - I sacrificed better lighting for signals - those are more lights - better in lighting, 70 total watts and better dispersed across the road. Expoxy all the screws except the light bulb housing screws - red locktite those - use the Acerbis rubber mounting straps and 2 wire zipties to lock the mounting in place. The wiring is pretty straight forward - check to make sure the bulbs are in tight - if not, make them so. EZ |

Personally I think the Dominator lights with 2 H4 bulbs would be brighter. 60w in one, 100w in the other. Or the XB/Uly lights wired to run as duals. But I've never seen the others (referenced above) at night. I think 2 small fog lights would really be best in addition to the stocker with a brighter H4 bulb. |

Can you run them together and not drain your system? Thats pretty maxed out - I chose my lighting for a good spread across the road vs fog, and weight savings, any of my light fairing combo's are less than a 1/3rd the weight of a stocker, and you can always upgrade bulbs. EZ |

55/60w & 60/100w both on, w/electric vest turned on and the bike starts right up! Short trips to work, 4.5 miles and the bike is never drained on battery. I rarely run without the vest (helps my back) or high beams on. Never had an electrical problem. I really dont know high bright those other set ups are, I can only go by size and wattage. I chose mine for day visibility as its really so bright around here at night you dont even need headlights! I yield to the experience of those who actually use the other set ups. |

That would be why I used that smiley! Instructions say to connect it directly to the battery cable with a 20 amp fuse. |

Always thought the Dominator set up was nice - a tad heavy but nice - thanks for the power confirmation - I was told though that drain will start to happen at over 120 watts - but I never tried testing it. EZ |

Comparable to stock in weight. Certainly not heavier. The XB lights are light weight, but 'rumored' to melt if hooked up as duals (though many people have) |
