I was just watching a vid of a guy doing that on a ZX10 - and he hit some loose stuff and threw it into oncoming traffic.
I think it's a Technically brilliant photograph - It's the riding that rancours. Yer riding that fast that you have a knee down on the highways and byways - I don't want to know about it.
Not to brag, but may I chime in. If you hang off the bike as much as I do. On the "Dragon" riding near the 30 MPH posted speed limit is enuf to drag a knee on the NineR. I need about 45ish to drag the knee on the uly.
>>Countersteering my be easier, but it aint as fun.

Yeah - we ham it up on photo shoots too.
Adds: But I take your point - I have to be going absolutely 10/10ths before any contact.
Most riders I meet seem to be @ 100% if and when they drag the knee. Some are blow away when they see me lay down the sparks. I just about can put it down @ will. Some riders cant fathom being able to do it. For me its cake walk.
In a corner, I actually feel alot safer closer to the ground with my knee down or out. Than "on the bike"
I have more contact patch for more grip for cornering, breaking and calmness of the boingers.
I can control the bike better if I roll up on a hazard.
Im also conveniently ready for a low side if any thing were to happen. Im already on the asphalt. IMHO it is not as bad of a fall/crash if im already on the road. Im about halfway into a low side and ready to fall away from the bike. I also ride very loose when I hang off.
You want to see dangerous, you should see me on the NineR with jeans.
Take a look @ the lower left leg. (in one of my many idiot phases)
they also sweep the stuff off of that road very frequently through out the day. the guy taking the pics is one of the guys that sweeps it EVERYDAY.
the speed limit is 30 on that road and there are plenty of corners that it takes some balls even on the buell to carry that speed through it they are so tight.
this wasnt ment to be a debate, just thought it was some neat photography.
It is a conversation. It's also a very unique road.
There are few like it.
I also have this picture of Barker at Gixxer corner in Suches.
You'd be lucky to take the corner at legal speed limit. That said, it's not hard to get a knee down. I almost did, and I didn't have pucks and wasn't even trying.
I wish you could come do a shoot in the states. We'd LOVE to take you "east".
If it ain't a residential zone and there's no traffic I say "So Be It". Have fun. Be safe.
I've never put a knee down myself. If I ever get to do a track day I hopefully will but on the street it's a sure fire signal to the coppers that you are up to no good.
As long as they don't see that and they don't have a radar reading, you can deny, deny, deny!
