Assbags tried the same thing with me. I'm lucky enough to bank at a small town local bank and they knew there wasn't a Mrs. Heibler to draw 2k from my checking. My account is now password protected. Not only do you need an account number by my personal, top-seceret, alpha-numeric code! |

That scares the crap out of me. Reading the posts, I've had Portfolio Recovery Associates call about two weeks ago. They were looking for a person I had never heard of but with the same first name as my wife. I thought it was about another debt collection agency that a local woman has been giving out my info. as her own. Long story but in the end she gets convicted of embezzling over 100 large. I will be sure to watch my statements closer. |

Get a credit monitoring service. $15/mo at transunion checks all 3 credit reporting agencies for changes. I had a collection agency post a bogus derogatory remark through Equifax, TU alerted me and gave me the link to contest with Equifax - the derog was gone in 36 hours from the time it appeared. myfico.com is pretty good also, go hang out in the forums if you want to learn all about credit scores and reports. Also, Citibank has a fraud/ID theft dept free to customers who will help you out with all areas if you suspect ID theft. |

another phone number associated with this same scam is 904-258=6525...this is the number that appears on your caller id... when you call it back, its bogus... it is being used by these dirtbags to try and get your personal info, so beware! im still investigating how they got my debit card and i think it was at some of the motels ive been using it at, that have been making a photo copy of it....the emplyees can also get your personal info from your motel room keys, so dont give them back when you check out... |

well i just got scamed in a differt way!! Went to draw money out last saturday to find out that i have exceded my limit for the day! WHAT? So, first thing i do is ask the wife what she bought....NOTHING! Since im out on my bike, i had her look at our account and she said it looked good.. i said check the savings.... sure enough, 2 seperate charges for $152 from Dutch bank out of Spain..How in the hell did that happen? The local news had a report last night about this. My bank said that it more then likely came from a gas station ATM that i used a few days earlier. Just to be safe, use you bank ATM! |

If I don't recognize the caller or phone number, I don't answer the phone. |

CASH...... No more problems. ...just not practical in a lot of cases anymore, unfortunately. Try renting a car, etc, without having a credit card to secure the rental. >.< |
