In addition to some of the suggestions you have already received here are a few in the midwest:
Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg museum in Auburn Indiana. Not too long a detour south off of I-90 just after you cross into Indiana from Ohio.
Wright Patterson Air Force Museum. Dayton, Ohio.
Strategic Air Command Museum. Right on I-80 just west of Omaha, Nebraska.

If you swing north into Wisconsin bring a boat cause we are flooded. Check for roads that are closed. They expect that the water will flow south in the Mississippi and flood states to the south. |

Speaking of Lobster Lunch- Any one from NY like to join me for a run out to Montauk to the "Lobster Roll"/AKA "LUNCH"?
All straight-line boredom, but the chow and the beaches are magnificent.
I'll be out there this week, in the family wagoon, boards in back, but would be up for a weekend chow run..
