I've been watching it rain on and off over here all morning. It's pouring right now. For once, weather.com was right about the weather, but not in a good way. I'm going to have to say, being a less experienced rider, I won't be venturing out on 2 wheels today. It sucks, because I have some harley friends/family staying up there this weekend. |

Still dripping here. Greg is right, I will have the kids next weekend. Later in the month on Saturday, June 28th, New England Dragway is have a Motorcycle "Streetfighter" bracket race during their import drag day.
How about having a big NEBO turnout for this? Even if drag racing isn't your thing, it is still fun, you will learn better clutch and throttle control and NED is a local venue that deserves our support. We can go fast without speeding and, most likely, without anybody crashing. Hit the scales and we can even calculate your HP. Did I mention there are tons of hot woman at the import race? For any woman reading this and you gay guys who won't race, there are presumably hot guys too. Who's in? |

Nope...no 1125...I'd like to ride one before I completely write it off but I don't think my hands could take the forward leaning. I would actually take a more serious look at the XT. Anyway...back to Audra's potential purchase: BMW 2005 F650 CS, 10,025 miles, asking $5995. Good bike? Bad bike? Under powered? |

I'm tempted to join in on the 28th.... I'd have to pull my fairings off to race but even then it wouldn't be fair to you "cute" buells. |

Join away - it's a bracket race, so your Gixxer brings you no advantage...... Or were you talking about your mad skills at the strip?

Scott, tell me about bracket racing? Does it handicap the machinery with superior HP? I'll likely join in.I think it best to piggy back the bike to the track though in case of mechanical failure |

You will get 2, maybe 3 practice passes to establish a baseline as to what elapsed time you can run. Top Qualifier is the rider who posts the best reaction time during the practice runs. If there are an odd number of bikes entered, then Top Qualifier gets the By Run. That is, he runs down the track alone and gets an automatic win for that round. Before each round of racing you select a Dial In. This the time you believe you are going to run. Be warned that if you go quicker than your Dial in – you lose! This is the equalizing factor! If a rider dials in with a 12.00 and another rider dials in with a 11.00 then the slower bike gets a one second head start. In theory the bikes arrive at the finish line at the same time. In reality, reaction time and your ability to run (or not run) your number effect the outcome. If the quicker bike ran a 10.99, he may or may not have crossed the finish line 1st, but he still loses. That is called breaking out. If both bikes break out, then whichever rider broke out the least wins. If you leave before the green comes on, then you had a Red Light and you will see a red light and you will have lost. Winners of each round live to race again until there are two bikes in the Final Round. The winner of the race is the Streetfighter Champion and gets a trophy. Depending in the number of cars that show up, we may or may not get to do additional Test and Tune runs after losing. Everybody should consider getting a $30 front end strap. It will improve your E.T.’s, make the bike easier to ride, making your times more consistent. It is money well spent if you ever want to do it again and you will! http://www.pingelonline.com/front_end_lowering_strap.htm Everybody needs to read this!

Sounds like a lot of huss n fuss. So here I going to race on my first day. Say I guess I will do it in 12, somehow I do it in 10. That means I lose? That's kinda um . |

Why haven't we had some timing covers made with the NEBO logo's on them?? It might sound stupid to some, but I would put one on my bike! |

BUELL SIGHTING - Off the topic a bit, but I went to Mohegan Sun today and I'm 99 percent sure this is the bike that was on display there. Nice looking bike! If you make your way down there, be sure to see if it's still around. It was between the casino area and the mall/shops. http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/anmviewer.asp?a=380 7&z=7 |

That means I lose? Making excuses already? What happened to your "skills that kill"? huss and fuss? It isn't that complicated. You pick a time based on what you have run in time trials, line up, the lights come on and you go down the track. Everything else takes care of itself and you either get a win light or you don't. No fuss or huss Being able to pick a 12 and run 2 seconds or any faster would be pointless. |

So here I going to race on my first day. So come up between now and then and do a street night 1st. Or if that Friday night is preferable to you guys that is fine with me. We could do just the street night or go back for the Streetfighter on Saturday...... My apartment is super small, one or two of you could fit. Otherwise there is a campground right around the corner from me. Don't get hung up on winning the Streetfighter, you probably won't. You might put a regular on his trailer though and that is fun! If they will let us continue to test and tune after losing then it is the same as doing a street night in that you will get about 6 runs in, with the added fun of trying a bracket race. edit - I cannot do street night on the 27th as I will be at Lee Speedway with my brother watching the NEMA midgets (Message edited by scott_in_nh on June 16, 2008) |
