In the car, not on the bikes... I'm trying to get out to visit a friend living near Topeka, Kansas (leaving from Albany, NY). Already have plans to stop and see family in Pittsburgh, and looking for something good to do for a day or two between Pittsburgh and Kansas. Initial plan was Chicago since I nor my girlfriend have ever been there, but it's not in stone. Any ideas? The trip will take place sometime around the first week of Sept. |

Pittsburg is home to Kennywood. Some damned fine roller coasters in that park. If you're in Pittsburg you'll be hitting the southern part of Ohio so you'll likely be closer to Kings Island (outside of Cincinnatti) than you are to Cedar Point (in Sandusky). You can also stop in Pickerington to visit the American Motorcycle Association's headquarters along with the Hall of Fame and classic motorcycle museum. That, and Skyline Chili is all over the State... |

We will be doing Kennywood while in Pittsburgh, so probably no other amusement parks are needed. The AMA Hall of Fame looks interesting... I'll have to dig up the Road Trip America book I have and see if mentions anything good for that part of the country. |

The AMA has celebrity bikes on display right now and one of them is Erik Buell's Buell. Also you could stop in at Iron Pony. Bring some $$$. Its a HUGE motorcycle stuff store. If you can't find something to buy, you must have everything. |

Visit Thumper in Cleveland, swing by Cedar Point on the way to Kansas. Columbus has the Oldest H-D dealer, Iron Pony and the AMA museum... |

You could stop in Owensboro KY and check out Earl Hayden's second chance used cars. (Earl is the Hayden race boys' dad). Earl is a heckuva guy and fun to talk to. Jaime.. ..here I am in LA and no immediate access to Skyline.. |

So tell me about this Skyline Chili? Is it that good? I have to say that I am a chili aficionado and have an award winning recipe. Just wondering if I should actually try this stuff. My recipe takes about 3-4 hours of prep work so I don't make it that often, maybe 2-3 times a year. If I could find a substitute that I could eat when I want chili but don't want to make my own, that would be great. It is REALLY hard to find really good chili, I am yet to find one in a can. |

It has its own taste, not like a normal Chili at all. The ground beef is boiled and becomes VERY small. It has a cinnamon flavor to it. Its best served over pasta with cheese and fresh onions. Sometimes it has beans. Its good on hot dogs too! Don't forget the CHEESE!! Its good stuff! I'm going make some tonight! |

Yeah, I like it five way: Spaghetti, Chili, beans, onions and cheese. Then I'll dowse it down with hot sauce before eating. By the way, if you twirl the spaghetti, people will know you're a tourist... (Message edited by jaimec on June 13, 2008) |

Maybe I'll pick some up on my way back from Homecoming....... Let me know if you do, the closest one to the ohio turnpike is less than 1/4 mile from my apartment. I'm on vacation the week after home coming, we could meet for chili and go for a quick ride through the cuyahoga valley national park. |

My kids and I stopped in Cleveland to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We were on the way to Syracuse from Green Bay. I thought we would spend an hour or two and we ended up spending almost the whole day. It was well worth the trip. Bill |

Same here. On my way home from a conference in Chicago and I decided to overnight in Cleveland so I could spend some time at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Ended up killing almost the entire day there and got home a WHOLE lot later than I'd planned! |

nothing like the old twin racer's for one. come spring time in school, there would always be a day off to go to kenneywood, and since my dad was the president of the school board in the area(west jefferson hills), we always got free tickets. ahhh, the good ole days. None near Cedar Point. All the Skylines in Cleveland are on the east sideish and Akron area. There are a couple within a few minutes of the Motorcycle museum in Columbus though. I've never actually been to Skyline... I'll be in Cbus this weekend, I should get some |

Well, I think we've decided to just fly out to Kansas... It's a lot of driving, and takes a lot of days off work, so it turned out to be a bit of a bust. However... Now I've got a hankering for a food tour on the bike with a buddy. Skyline Chili, and Primanti Brother's Sandich, Dinosaur BBQ... This is going to be a good one... |
