as some of you have noticed if you ride your 1125 with the ball of your foot on the peg you will wear a nice spot in the swingarm where your heel hits. i have a temporary fix in place, but i started on my more permanent fix for that last night and just had to pick up a few pieces today. should be done(atleast a rough version) tonight and i will post some pics. anyone else come up with an answer to that problem? | ||

When I go to the track I layer duct tape for now. Like to make some 1/6" thick clear plastic guards like they have on the forks where the cables rub. Need to find the right material with adhesive on one side. | ||

Need to find the right material with adhesive on one side. 64269-04 it is actually a basically clear(is a little hayzed) abrasive resistant tape that harley sells. or it comes with things like a license plate bag so when you mount the bag behind the plate it doesnt wear the paint off of the fender. its an 8"x4" sheet i just cut it up how i need it. | ||

Another material that is really tough is number plate background for dirt bikes. You can get every color imaginable including clear and simulated carbon fiber. This stuff is thick and very durable. | ||

they are bolted on, and the heel guards off of an xb would work also. they would just need a little cosmetic work to make them match better but they have the exact same bolt pattern | ||

Man, I like that. Are those from the passenger pegs? Also, does it work well? I have 14W feet myself. Also, with that do you still need the plastic covering. (Message edited by cataract2 on June 12, 2008) | ||

yes they are the original passenger peg heel guards. i only have about an hour on it since i put it back together and none of it was real aggressive riding so it is still undecided as to how well it works. it does do its job atleast and keeps my feet from rubbing the swingarm. i figure i can easily take the heel guard bracket off and dust it with a new coat of paint once in awhile as i wear it down. wouldnt be as easy to touch up the swingarm. there is no need for the tape on the swingarm anymore, i just havent taken it off yet because i wanted to see how the new setup worked first i did have to bend the left side one where it bolts up to the front heel guard otherwise it will hit the swingarm. and i tweaked the right one out away from the swingarm a bit also just to make sure it wont rub. the left one is very solid and can be pushed on pretty hard. the right one is fairly solid but it does flex a bit(maybe 1/2" or so if you are pushing on it pretty good) so i am trying to decide just how much space i need between it and the swingarm to allow for that. it might take a little getting used to as it does push your heels out a bit, but i think once i get used to it it will be just fine. | ||
