I don’t know if this is been posted before ? But I found on a 1125 we had a look at, The line mount had come loose ( on the lower triple tree ) the front brake line had rubbed on the front tyre while braking extreme, ( soft preload , wet race ) the brake line slipped through the clearing between the front fender and the right front leg normally those brake line mount are good and tight, but this one has come loose. Just a point off attention, take care, bud |

That sounds like the now famous Clutch Cable mount on the XB bikes that snaps and allows the clutch cable to touch the exhaust on the front jug. I think they need a new supplier for these little cable holders. |

I noticed this too. My front brake line had wear marks on it deep enough to the armored layer. Check yours out just in case. |

Same here... rubs against the fender (and even brake if you hit the brakes hard and have the cable in the wrong place!) |

Ouch! Mine is worn to the armor too, BUT there was nothing loose or broke. I loosened the screw and clip and tried to adjust but there is no position that keeps the brake line from rubbing against the fender at some point. I would suggest everyone check this! I didn't think I had a problem as I knew my bracket was tight and the damage is hard to see. It looks like the only good way to ensure this from happening on my bike is with a wireform keeper supporting the brake line from the caliper like on my S3. |

What area are you all talking about? Can someone get a pic of this? |

I looked at, or rather felt, my brake line. All fasteners are tight and a little wear thru the outer layer of the brake line where it touches the fender edge. Nothing significant, no worries here. Z |

Mine has wear as well. This is a concern that should get Buell's attention! I tried adjusting the line, but I couldn't get it to not rub on the fender. I took my dremel to the fender to create some clearance and I placed a split piece of clear tubing around the brake line with zip-ties holding it in place. It still rubs the fender, but it's the tubing rubbing and not the brake line. |

Inspected mine today, found the clear sheathing was worn through to the metal braids. No issue of wearing through right now, but a couple thousand more miles and it will. From the wear mark, appears to only be rubbing the tire when the front is under compression (hard cornering, large bumps, hard breaking). Going to take it into the dealer as soon as I have an alternate mode of transportation. |

Here you go!
Reverse the brake line clamp and use a brake line support off of a S3. Bend it in a S shape. Add some 3/8s hose. Of course a smaller hose would look better but that's what I have.
There is now about a 3/4 inch clearance to the fender and doesn't rub or bind anywhere. I do wonder if the support will lose some of the bend. Time will tell. Pics and S3 part care of Blue Eyed Buell Girl... Thanks! |
