what kind of alternatives are there to the boxy tag mount on and S-3?... i havent given it much thought until it recently started cracking...(but so are many other things, including the tail light..) i guess it would be too easy just to take a saw to it and make it smaller..i have plans for the tail light assembly. any cool ideas for the tag bracket?

I took mine right off, fab'ed a piece of stainless for a plate mount. My turn signals are led's in the rear vents. |

I did the same thing as Numb_nutz with the same beautifully simplified, sculptured results. Here is a shot of what it looks like under the tail piece. I epoxied emergency lighting grade LED's to the side of the storage container under the seat. I originally used a cheap set designed for trailer lights but they were too dim especially behind that grill work. These babies blast the intention of turning to the rear big time. I am going to wire in another set to my brake lights for stop signals. I just drilled 2 more holes in the frame to accommodate the licence plate, but like Numb_nutz, I too will be milling an aluminum frame (since I just got a job with a milling machine in the room!)but probably not till winter. That is a good looking S3 Numb....

Bob Do you have any specific information on the LEDs. I would like to have done this to my S3 but I use bags and a support is down there. Looking good guys. Joe |

Joe, I don't have any details on the LED readily available but will try to find out something on them before the end of the day for you. Can you get around the support? Is there any room at all in there for you? Bob |

Joe, Here you go. These are "just like" the ones I used, but are not. Mine came from a different manufacturer that this company then copied the specs of. I can't tell you who made the ones I use - it'snot that I won't but rather I don't know and can't find out. OK? Each LED puts out 1 watt and there are 3 LEDs in one unit... SLED03 Series current draw = max 0.35 amps, 12 flash patterns (Set to stun! ) contact Zone Technologies, Ontario Division, Rick Malott 519-990-9663 zonetechontario(at)gmail.com and tell him what you want. If size is an issue, he will have other dimensions available. If you know you maximum size before you call maybe he can hook you up. I've never spoken to this guy so I don't know what he's like to deal with. "Whelan" also makes these products - worth a google there too. I don't have a contact there. Good Luck! Bob |

Here is the size thing again.. the item I listed above (sled 03 series) is 3.8" wide, 1.6" wide and 1.3" high. In Canadian, those numbers will be 99mm,41mm and 35mm FYI |

Here it is with the tail section in place - so clean looking w/o that license plate holder.
Werewolf - that is a beautiful looking application - I thought it was stock too when I saw it! |

Thanks Bob I appreciate all the time and effort. Dave I think your tail light on the XB will be applicable to the S3. Sounds like a project for this winter. Thanks again guys. Joe |

If you want a much easier (but not quite as good looking) fix, move the plate up as far as possible, remove the 2 reflectors, and cut the extra plastic off the bottom. |

Bob Here is a picture of the sub-frame support for my bags. I prefer to live with it for now. Joe |

Hey Joe, I can see why you would want to keep things the way they are. Your sub-frame is a lot "busier" than mine and having to move the catch can too.... Since the rearmost support for your bags looks like it hangs from the bottom of the plate holder perhaps you simply can't do without the funky plate holder at all?? |

Bob I'm still going to move the signals up in the vents and use LEDS. But the bracket and plate stays for now. Dave I may add those to the Bags in the area that is clearanced for the old signals. But for now it's back to the bearing stuck on the triple tree shaft. Did some surfing on the SLED03/04 they seem to be the easiest way to go. Good info and I can always use help. Joe |
