I'm about to buy a new XB12 and will pretty much immediately be replacing the stock exhaust. I've heard that retuning is necessary. I'm very familiar with tuning ECUs from tweaking 5.0 Mustangs with TwEECer software, but need to be pointed in the right direction as far as Buell motorcycles go. Thanks. |

ECMSpy. You'll need a cable. To do it correctly you'll need a way to monitor the AFR. |

Ok, so my cable has arrived. My laptop is setup with ECMSpy. Is it possible to accurately tune without using a WBO2 sensor? |

No, not really. Too many variables in that process. Every change in LCL affects AFV which in turn affects open loop and so on. Best is to run open loop, but then changes in altitude will not get adjusted automatically. Regards, Gunter |

That's what I thought. I've got an NGK wideband... does ECMSpy have provisions for datalogging auxiliary inputs like a WBO2? Also, I'm guessing that the WBO2 can double the function of the stock narrowband, so I can simply replace the stock sensor with it. If not, I suppose I'll have to weld an additional bung to the header. |

If you swap sensors and go open loop, then you could use the standard O2 sensor port. For an NB simulation, you might have to modify the ECM's O2 sensor data. Regards, Gunter |

Right, because open loop state ignores O2 input. Is there a flag that can be set to force the ECM in open loop all the time? I haven't seen anything in ECMSpy after briefly searching. And thanks for all the info, it's very useful. |

No, there's not a real switch. But you could set the rpm required to activate O2 sensor to a value that will never reached. This enables O2 monitoring, but switches off EGO correction. You will find some more info regarding this in one of the UKBEG EcmSpy threads. Regards, Gunter |
