Totway,

Are those handlebars on the bugeye lower than stock?

I've been looking for lower bars for my M2 but can't find an appropriate bend that's lower but still clears the tank.

Anyone?

They are the lowest that would clear the tank (barely). I bought Renthal MX bars I don't remember the model but they had the least sweep of all the models. I just unbolted the cross bar and tossed it!

I put the cross roads X1 clip on style bars low and shorter than the M2 ones BUT... you will have to modify or move the windscreen.

Hey, I've got that DSE centerstand also. It works very well and can easily be operated by one person. It has proven to be indispensable and I use it constantly. One of the first things I purchased for the bike was this centerstand - I got it for $99 at the dealer.

WARNING! When I used a bottle jack under the front shock eye to remove both wheels to mount new tires, my 2000 M2 became extremely unstable while on the stand. A slight bump could have easily toppled the bike. This would have been disasterous with no wheels on it.

When you take both wheels off, the center of gravity will get higher. I also had a full tank of gas and this compounded the problem. I wound up putting cinder blocks on the seat to keep the bike stable while on the stand.

I would still recommend this centerstand though. Just be careful when taking both tires off.

If you have this stand please reread Djkaplan's WARNING. I did have by bike topple over when I had the rear wheel off and was using a bottle jack under the front shock to raise the front. The bike went backwards and rotated the bike off the stand. Since I was on the left side I could not stop it from falling and landing on the muffler. No major damage was done but it was just insult to add to the screw in the rear tire. So now I put a 25 lb wieght on the stand to hold it down whenever I use it.

Your posting of the 8th of June 2002 of the red X1 with a very nice belly pan and Air cleaner setup refers.
You mentioned you asked them for a catalouge. Did you received anything from them yet. I tried yesterday to put a request in to them but with no success. I am interested in prices for those items and will the air cleaner work on the fuel injection motors, not sure if it is only for carburetor setup.
info will be appreciated.

Tripp,
That question comes under the heading of "Variable responses dependant upon personal anectdotes". (Probably several spelling errors in there.)

Some say plug and ride. Some say plug until you can get to where you can remove the tire and properly patch it from the inside. Some say plug it to get you home or to the shop for a replacement tire and don't exceed some specific speed (usually the speed at which the rider's safety gear will not fail them should they have a getoff due to a tire blowout). Some say plugs are for hair transplants and even then they don't work well.

It depends on the tire, where it was punctured, how big and what type of screw it was, how much damage was caused to the cords in the tire from the screw insertion and removal, and how much tread life is remaining on the tire.

Some also say to replace your helmet if you accidently drop it onto the pavement while walking into a store.

Bottom line: only you can decide what you're comfortable with, and base that upon the parameters of the puncture, the tire, and your riding style and pace.

S1,
right mouse click on the "BBS Formatting" button on the left and open the link up in a new window. Then follow the steps in the new window as you do the process in the primary window. But before you start, ensure the picture size isn't bigger than the site limit on memory size, also noted in the instructions.

The pictures don't do the paint job justice. Althought not a cameleon paint, it does change colors in different lighting and looks green in the dark. It's also for sale :( I'll add it to the classifieds section.

Ptown yes i did get a catalouge from them. They have quite a few more parts in it also. I will post a number to there shop when i get home from work. And that air cleaner will work you will just have to drill a hole for the Air temp sensor.
