Any recommendations for soft luggage for the Uly? I have been thinking about getting some GIVI cases or maybe Oxford throw-overs. Any suggestions or experience with soft bags on the Uly? | ||

I looked at bags forever before deciding on the Chase Harper Silver Streak (standards not the small sportbike models)I added the tail pack which allows the 3 to be connected together. The straps line up well with the uly tail and handle assemly. I did add a bungee from the passenger footpeg around the tail to keep the bags from ever accidentally touching the wheel but it's more for piece of mind since they sit pretty straight. | ||

I am looking at Cortech ( Tourmaster ) sport bags with the top bag as well. I like the compactness and look , as well as the quality. Someone mentioned in a thread that the best trip they had ever taken was when packing the minimum amount of stuff. The Cortech should fit that task  nicely. . | ||

Hi Longdog. You have seen me spouting forth on here about loathing bags on a bike and saying things like 'If it wont fit in my pockets or under the seat it stays at home'. Well after all that I ordered myself a Touratech Pillion Seat Tail Rack Bag Cat Page 602 Item 055-1450. Its a handy item having a good grab handle and straps to convert to a back pack. Easy to fit and remove. As with all Touratech stuff it aint cheap but if you sprung for a 055-1420 too you could, IMHO avoid side bags for a longish trip (Unless you have a pillion of course). I'm riding to the uk later in the summer and this is why I bought one, purely to carry a good supply of cheese and chocolate. (Message edited by Dick_stilton on June 09, 2008) | ||

Hi Dick, I prefer my bike to be 2naked and unashamed" too. I have a Buell tank bag and a Buell knapsack/tailpack that attaches to the triple tail and that is more than adequate for me and 2 weeks in Europe. However, SWMBO is coming to Ireland with me and her needs are greater than mine. She rides pillion on the odd day out, but this is her first ever trip of any length, so, as I don't want hard bags, a pair of soft bags is a must! Ahhhh... I see Longdog. All is now clear... if it was me though, I would say to the Mrs 'Get your own bike and haul your own junk' oh yes I did, and she did. But then you are very obviously a considerate husband and a gentleman whereas I am merely a MCP. Regards to Mrs Longdog and I wish you both a safe and enjoyable trip. PS. Those bags look good. I rode with Cortech softbags for a year. Good quality, no complaints, but I'm glad to have switched to weather proof hard bags. |
