Ok.. I have over 2000 miles on my 2008 Ulysses. I have been keeping track of my mileage, every fill up documenting the miles & gallons & keeping receipts. My Buell has been steadily averaging 30 MILES PER GALLON!!!! This is my 2nd Buell, my 2002 X1 averaged 45-50 Miles per gallon & even better on the open road. My 2005 Triumph Tiger averaged 40 Miles per gallon & its best ever mileage was on a trip, with the girlfriend & 60lbs of luggage, we got an average of 51 miles per gallon!!!! This on a bike cruising at 6000 rpm at freeway speed. BUT! MY 2008 Uly with just me on it, is averaging 30mpg??? What gives. All the 2006-2007 owners claim amazing MPG, what did Buell do with the DDFI 3 system that ruined the MPG on these bikes???? I am planning on turning it in under warranty to the dealer, for a Low RPM V-twin should not be getting this type of Mileage. My Toyota Pickup is getting 24MPG, this is just pitiful! I think all of us having issues should start turning our bikes into the dealer to force Buell to recognize their specs on their 2008 models are flawed. I can tour on a bike getting 110 miles before the fuel light comes on? |

turning it in to the dealer on warranty? do you mean a lemon law or something? my 08 gets 42 mpg, but runs like poop at low rpm.... no lemon law on bikes in my state... no relief in sight! my 03 xb9 and my S-3 ran like champs.. |

My MPG was around 35-38.Then I found a gas station that doesn't use blended fuel.MPG went to 44-45,still not as good as my '06 it was 52-55MPG. |

I've got almost 1000 miles on my '08 XB12Ss and I'm getting around 35 mpg as well. I'm not happy with it. It seems like the motor is running a bit rich and I will definitely bring it up with the dealer when it goes in for its first service. Performance is good, though. |

I'd think you 08 owners should be at least seeing low 40's MPG. 30 MPG has got to indicate a problem. If it's running THAT rich, I'd think it would fail any kind of emissions testing. |

Don't the 2008's have the upgrade to DDFI 3? |

I have an 08 XB12Scg that has a little over 2k miles. I am averaging 32mpg with a high of 38mpg at 1879 miles and a low of 27mpg at 337 miles. I have no idea how some people are getting 50mpg. (Message edited by wgnzlz on June 05, 2008) |

Well, now we can speculate on why mileage is so low on the 1125. Seems that DDFI 3 may not be as fuel efficient as the predecessor. My 2003 XB9 gets about 50mpg when I'm just cruising, and the 12s do better. |

08Uly over in the Big, Bad & Dirty area has a link to a spreadsheet that he has been compiling. There are some interesting numbers when comparing model years. Check out this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/355151.html?1212635217 |

My 2007 12Ss does low thirties in stop and go traffic regardless of how my right hand acts. Go to the open road whether interstate or secondary road with few stops and this jumps to 45 to 55 range depending this time on how my hand acts. I have been told and have seen elsewhere on this board that the FI remaps to your current riding "style" within a relatively short span of miles. The numbers I get seem to bear this out. AM I mistaken or on to something? |

'08TT here, with 897 miles on the clock. Mileage on the last tank was 43.66mpg in a mixture of highway/urban usage. Something in the area of 38mpg on the first tank, and steadily climbing. |

FWIW, my 06 XB12Ss has NEVER dropped below 42mpg except on track days... |

I am steady in the 30's. I went on a freeway ride from DC to richmond & back (about 160 miles) all open road 65mph average. I got 38mpg. Now thats just sad. I am going to turn it in, to see if Buell & My local HD dealer can sort it out... something is indeed wrong! Otherwise.. I like my bike |

We did really great on our last tanks. Jerrys ULY got 56 mpg and my 12Ss got 55 mpg so we are super pleased. BUT, we do live in Illinois where the roads are long and flat!! |

I have an 04 XB12S with 10,000 + Buell Pro Race Kit. 50 in town and 54 on Highway. Kinda blows my mind! I had an 06 Warrior that only got about 29-36!! I got a keeper!! |

Best tank ever on my 06 uly was 63.3mpg at about 13,000mi on the odo... I have run tanks through as low as 35mpg... It all depends on the usage warmup times city vs freeway ect... |

stock I'm running 38 mpg on my 2008 xb9sx when I'm cruising at over 110mph but normal mpg is 45 with the Cali. freeway speeds of 75. if i stay below 3000 rpm which is about 55 mph on the 9 then the mpg went as high as 54 mpg. to do that i mean light throttle and never shifting above 3000 rpm!! Ok, it's official... something's not quite efficient with DDFI 3. Batts Racing has shipped their ECM hookup cable to me so I should be able to datalog and see what's going on shortly. My car gets better mileage than my bike! |

My 07 Scg gets 56-58 mpg non hard riding at 60 mph. Drops dramatically when riding hard. |

I am a very conservative rider, no high RPM, no fast riding, just crusing along at a normal pace, usually in the 3K RPM range. So an average of 30-35MPG is a bit ridiculous. I am going to take it to the dealer, let them & buell sort it out. |

Thats me. At 3k rpm I'm at 60 mph, thats the upper speed limit here (55) and I get the 56-58 mpg. I'd have them looking into it also. |

I average all the time, between 62 and 67 mpg on my 2004 XB12S with spirited, fast riding. I have gotten, many times, 72 to 74 mpg over the last 3 years when I take it easy cruising at higher altitude here in the mountains of Colorado. I am a short rpm shifter hardly ever going above 4,000 rpm in the lower gears. Bike has over 21,000 miles on it and it runs better than new. |

I think the fuel injection adjusts leaner when I ride at higher elevations (10,000 plus feet) so that might be part of the great mileage in the higher mountains of Colorado. I have heard this from others too. |

'08 XB12Ss, - on my last mileage check with about 1,500 miles on the bike I got my best mileage ever at 47 mpg on mostly freeway riding with some city stuff thrown in. This was with conservative riding keeping the tach in the 3,000 to 3,500 rpm range as much as possible. My mpg has improved in the last 1,000 miles on the freeway, it it is poor around town. I think that the mpg will continue to get better, but it will never be as good as the previous years without doing some modifications. |
