I am having an issue with a vibration and am trying to narrow it down. The vibe is "high freq" and felt upon decel w/o pulling in the clutch. When the clutch is pulled in, the vibe goes away. I checked the tranny fluid level and found it to be low (and also found the "mayo" on the inspection cover. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet to check. What do you think? |

I would check the primary chain adjustment. It sounds like it may be loose. |

I have had a bunch of vibe issues. It really takes away from the experience. If your fluid levels are good and your primary is properly adjusted, there are several other tricks I do. Make sure the front elastomer isn't broke. Get some Amsoil SILICON spray - traditional oils can swell rubber. Spray the front and rear elastomers and all the heim joints. This will surprise you. Works real good. ps - THERE IS A HEIM JOINT UNDER THE TANK. Get as high of an octane as possible. Sunnoco sell a 100 octane at some locations. Get some HVMP handlebar weights and stuff the bars with silicone caulk [ messy and requires the removal of all switch gear] Good luck - the vibes are always sneaking in and pissing me off. I'd almost trade for a Tiger just because of the vibes. |

Front engine isolator has gone out on mine twice in 27,000 miles and the third one is on the way out. Look at it from the bottom, the rubber will crack where the three rubber "wings" go to the bolt. +1 on the rest of what Conchop said. |

I almost forgot - check and properly adjust the cable for the muffler valve. The adjuster is under the tank. Its on the cable leading to the servo motor. I've noticed that they're all loose and this lets the muffler valve jingle, thus letting out too much exhaust and decreasing the back pressure. The computer doesn't like this and you lose low end power. Once the cable is adjusted, you;ll notice a quieter exhaust, more bottom end power and less vibes. She will still do her best at higher rpm's BUT you will tell a difference for the better. |

I found the problem. It's the front isolator. The vibes got worse as the rubber deteriorated. I checked it when I started to notice vibes. It looked good. Then, after a noticeable increase in vibes, the rubber showed cracks and finally pulled away from the bottom part of the bolt. I've got a replacement on the way. FYI. Pics of bad one to come later. |
