You'll spit the valves out of the motor. I don't know if it will do anything to the computer, but motors don't like that stuff. |

I would think it would be ok to run the open header. The valve problem is only a worry without ANY exhaust. I have seen several Buells that have been ran for years that way. You actually lose some hp so it should be ok without the stock ECM. Just check the plugs to make sure its not too lean. |

if loud pipes save lives, your neighbors should live forever! |

wulf, thats funny. You won't spit the valves out of the motor. It would be wise to remap the ECM to correct for the lean condition the open header/exhaust creates. The stock DDFI has a hole from 4200-4800rpm,and you've just made the hole a lot bigger. Obnoxiously loud motorcycles suck. |

would it be better if I just gutted the muffler out? Or will it still be hard on the motor? |

What would be the reason to do this? |

This would not be a really a good setup for power, reliability, or anything else but noise. |

WHY? My Buell is running a D&D Race exhaust... Quieter than my old D&D slip on, BUT, feels better, and makes more power... There is no reason to be "loud".... My sporty is a little louder, with a D&D Fat Cat 2into1, but, quieter than the V&H straight shots I had on there... More power as well... What are your goals? Noise? Cool, yank the muffler, and support the header... good luck... Power, get the D&D system, or the Force(LOUD), or, if you can find one, a Buell Race System... Noise.. best bang for the buck, the D&D slip on...or, the Force pipe Chase |

MAKE SURE TO SUPPORT TO THE HEADER. This is what put stress on my header studs and what finally ended up snapping them off on the highway. not too much fun trying to push a bike up hill in 90 degree weather in Atlanta because 2 of your studs broke |

Straight pipes are good after 6000 RPM, by the way who rides there except the RACE'ers |

with open header at WOT you will also have a slight delay and the bike will normally studder for a half second....well at least mine did |

just get a force pipe, basically open design, but gives a good kick in the pants after 4k rpm |

An open header with no pipe would kill your midrange and your bike would be too loud for anything but a dragstrip. And basically... only an inconsiderate idiot would run one on the street. There's too many of them out there already. |

If you want a loud bike that gets you recognized all you need to do is wire the horn into the ignition circuit. That should do it for you... |

Wire the horn into the brake light. That'll do it! |
