Don't have my manuals yet and I aam trying to decide between the Back-Off and the Kisan TailBlazer. I had one on my prior bike and it worked great. Kisan shows a replacement bulb (?), but the Uly light fixture looks like an LED...(unless its just a fake?) Hep Me, Hep Me, Please - Sum Buddy, Hep Me!! Kisan tailBlazer...

The Uly has a sealed LED tail light. I have the back off flasher thingy on mine and it does help. |

What you need for the Ulysses (or any Buell) is the Kisan 100HD. Here it is on my Uly |

With all due respect 08uly, why pay $80 for a tailBlazer, when a Back-Off XP does the same thing for $35. (inner dialogue: God, please, please tell me the Back-Off XP does the same thing - I just bought one) (Message edited by johnboy777 on December 08, 2007) |

Yeah, by all means save some dough. I bought the Kisan cause I like the exponential decay down to a solid brake light. If I'm not mistaken the Back-Off continuously cycles with no decay to solid ON. |

why pay even $35 when i have a brain and a finger to flash the taillight w/ my eyes in the mirror and the bike in gear until a car comes to a complete stop behind me. trust no one |

If I'm not mistaken the Back-Off continuously cycles with no decay to solid ON. Not so, the XP BackOff has two selectable options, one of which cycles several flashes until a constant-on as long as the brake switches are held active. I chose the repeating cycle since I like the idea of keeping cars at stops behind me entertained so they don't just drive into me for lack of something else to do, it's happened twice before... why pay even $35 when i have a brain and a finger to flash the taillight w/ my eyes in the mirror and the bike in gear until a car comes to a complete stop behind me. trust no one I do that still, especially in So CA when without warning on the fwys traffic halts and I'm vectoring in on my lane-split. It's nice though to let the electronics do the work while I focus on the traffic. Module mounts nicely under the seat where the two brake switches wiring converge, I can post pix if needed. |

I just installed the Kisan 100HD on my Uly. I pulled the tail light module out and cut a slice into the tubing cover and pulled out the black and white wire to make about an inch loop. I had to cut back the tubing cover near the plug to allow for pulling the wire into this loop. The loop is about 1.5 to 2 inches back from the plug. I cut the loop and spliced in the Kisan as instructions show. I ran the ground to one of the bolts on that hold the seat latch bracket. This works and I did not have to cut into the main wiring loom. It was easier working on the tail light when it was removed and I velcroed the Kisan module back in the tail area to keep it secure. If the module fails I will just jump the two tail light wires to the same terminal and bypass the Kisan. I figure since the tail light is LEDs it should last the age of the bike so there should not be much more fuss with this. There is a YouTube of the Uly tail light with the Kisan module - see up thread. With the bright LEDs this works well and I am happy with it. Now I am off to Americade! |
