Lately, I just can't get the Idea out of my head of gettin an 1125r. i just did a bunch of stuff to my cityX, like the bike with 0 complaints, just intrigued by the 1125r. the obvious solution would be to have both, but that's not realistic for me. i haven't demo'd one yet, kinda scared of what i might do if i like it as much as i think i would. just needed to get this off my chest to people who might understand my plight.  | ||

Sold my Uly to get mine. Have not regretted it. Did not even ride it before buying it. Went down the day they uncrated it and picked it up. First Buell was an '03 XB9S (with race kit), loved that bike and way it you had to rev it to make power. Went to the Uly with 1203 and liked it but never feel for it like the 9. Enter the 1125R and am in love again. | ||

Sign up for an Inside Pass trackday & "test ride" one. Trust me, you WON'T want to buy one after that. Just read all the magazine articles 'bout how "crappy" it is. Visit the 1125R board here & note how everyone HATES it. (Ignore the posts in there from folks like me who absofreakinlutely LOVE this bike) But whatever you do, DO NOT pay any attention to it's recent success in racing (Europe, Canada & California). That should help to convince the "rational" part of your mind that you don't really want one. That should last ~2 minutes. Repeat the above cycle every ~2 minutes, or as needed. Do not exceed 24 doses per hour. Consult your physician if you experience any lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea, or your wallet starts walking to the dealer without you attached under it’s own power.  Having said all of the above, I sold 2 tubers for my 1125R after riding 1 last year @ the Inside Pass. It's a Freakin AWESOME machine and I LOVE IT!!!!!! | ||

I think i self diagnosed my rather sudden desire to acquire the mighty 1125r. For those that don't follow the lets get it on thread or don't remember I started on Nutrisystem on April 5th. let me tell you, it's going better than i could have ever expected, as i've lost 46 pounds already and feel better than i have honestly felt my entire adult life. I think that this could be the source of my new found sporting desires. now granted i still have a long way to go to my goal of 190 lbs, but i've been being a lot more active and i guess maybe since i'm being more athletic i'm craving a more "athletic" as Erik puts it motorcycle. | ||

For me - I'd keep the City X. I'm not interested in track days - never have been - I's a road rider - and I'd just waste half of what an 1125R does - or toast my licence. I get demerit point pressure on a Uly. | ||

Oh - and i also think the city X is a more athletic bike than the 1125R. All those screens and bodywork blah. Athleticism is about strapping a motor to your butt and it being all about you - rather than the machine. | ||

I'm with Double D on this one. Maybe I'll be swayed by the next generation 1125, who knows. I do know however, in the 30+ years of riding the only street bike I've had that gets me going is my XB. I'll not be rid of it, so if I did get another bike, it'd be another bike, not a replacement. | ||

My $.02: I have over 18K miles on my bone-stock XB9SX. Most of them accumumated riding Deal's Gap, the Cherohala, and whatever great roads I have around the homestead. Went to Barber for the dealer training track day (BTW, I can <sell> you yer next bike, one bitty plug there) and rode the 1125R in its most logical setting, the track. LOVED IT, as did two other individuals who accompanied me (two fine folks whose opinions I highly value). This is a sportbike which has and will change the paradigms of basic design for years to come. It has a character all its own, is simply the best Buell EVAR for handling, and the motor is like an <instant> addiction to crack, which can be moderated down to an addiction to fine coffee- its effects on your health and drivers license need not be terminal. Tastes great too. I came back from the track with a better appreciation of what my cityX does for me, however. I appreciate your sentiments towards getting in better shape- you'll NEED to be to handle this bike properly. My perfect garage would have a Ulysses, an 1125R, and my freshly rebuilt '77 lowrider. Gotta get that raise somehow, hmmm..... The XB's are Clark Kent's daily ride, but I guarantee Kal-El will break into the Batcave sometimes to take a spin on the 1125R. It's a great bike, any way you slice it. | ||

I know that the 1125r is a huge step up in all around performance. I don't do track days yet, don't want to buy the required gear til i reach my goal weight. once i do, i'm definitely look forward to doing some track schools and track days, esp with 2 tracks within a reasonable distance (nelson's ledges and mid-ohio). on the street i'm pretty responsible, as i've seen some bad scenes as a truck driver and of course my license is my life. before i do anything i gotta go sit on one, and hope it fits better than when i was 321 lbs at the IMS in cleveland in january. waiting til next year is the more responsible thing for me to do, but that's never really been a strong suit of mine. i like the idea of having a 25th anniv bike and first year 1125r and all the new technology with it. the elephant in the room though is my credit. it's not smoked, but not great either. we'll see, i'm very torn right now.  | ||

In answer to your initial question. Yes, you lose lot's of brain cells every day. Well known medical fact that, got f*** all to do with buying another bike though. I tried a XB12S at Homecoming 05, a Uly at Buelldays 06 in France, a mates 12R, & they all left me cold, then along came the TT. I now am a 2 Buell person, still have the bent M2 but there's no longer any pressure to rebuild it, with a TT standing in the garage. Oh it'll get done, just so's I've got something to lend one of you bozo's when you come to visit. Go try one, then think about it a bit & ride what you've got, then go ride another one, then think about it a bit more, then decide. Meantime keep buying lottery tickets. | ||

Ben, My Uly is my tool, that's all there is to it. I rode one of those damn crotch rockety, high powered, corner carving, super machines at MBV on a cold, foggy, damp day, under very limited conditions. All I can say about it without further, more fair, review is, wholly crap is that an awesome machine! The ones I had seen around sounded like a sewing machine with parts falling off, when standing beside them. When in the captains chair it sounds so sweet! It accelerated from 30 to 55 in second gear just faster than I could blink an eye, and leaning in and out of corners it felt like a fine carving knife. I rode a V65 Magna in the late eighties and it was for the time a very fast machine(not a cornering or light bike though). The 1125r.......hmmmmm.......just so much more machine. Is your mind lost? Not if you can afford to have it. I would want to keep the old Buell for now though. Especially in my case, I couldn't be without the Uly for the longer trips. Crotch Rocketry gets painful to old guys after a short time with the knees bent too far and leaning on the hands too much. Good luck with that decision, cause either way, you win! | ||

I dont understand the 1125r phenomenon, but that damn XR1200 sure does give me restless nites. Never trade in, just add to. I would loose some damn weight if I quit using Jenny Craig as an Appetizer to Nutrisystems followed by a desert from WeightWatchers chased with a South Beach diet drink. | ||

OT, I think, I am 6'1" and a fit 185-90 lbs. Didn't need to lose weight but wanted to have a better diet. Got on the South Beach diet. All the salads, grilled chicken, fish, nuts, fruit. I felt like a different person. Good healthy food will get you too your bodies ideal weight quick. Helps just about everything in your life, much better sex too. I would recommend incorporating the whole grains and fresh foods of the So. Beach diet into your life after you reach your goal. Just get it into your head that all the soda, white bread, *enriched* foods, partially HYDROGENATED crap is the DEVIL! and your healthy foods will start tasting delicious. Back OT. You guys have me wanting to hold out for an 1125R. I am overseas military who will be ordering before I come back to the States. I WAS planning on replacing my wrecked XB12R with another but, HMMMMM.... Is there a replacement fiberglass for those god awful air scoops? I saw some Germans did some custom stuff but don't know if they're on the market in the US. With my military discount I will be saving about 1K on an XB so I might order it then test ride an 1125 as soon as I could??? Trade??? | ||
