My bike was in the dealer the first time with under 20miles on it. I just found this weekend that the baro sensor was installed improperly. I'm not sure if it came from Buell that way or if it was a dealer oops. The sensor was clipped into the air box so the nipple was pointing up. The sensor had water in it and was causing the bike to run poorly at low speeds. After dumping the water out of it and installing it properly I found the bike no longer starts and stalls when cold. It idles smoother, the surging under 3500rpms is less now. It use to blow slightly black exhaust when first started and no longer does that. Seems to run much better all around. Just thought I would put that out there for everyone.

Michael:

You don't happen to have a pict? Maybe a little better description of the component and it's location.

Thx

The way it should be...

The way Chevycummins probably was... It is acutally hard to put in it on the incorrect way. Good luck with your dealer.

Krassh, thats how mine was installed improperly! I'm just not sure if somebody at the dealer rode the short bus or if somebody at Buell rode the short bus!

Was probably a little unfair, they did not have a service manual. Hate to see them dig into a jigsaw puzzle though.

Yeah I ran down to take these pictures after seeing this post. Was the only way to incorrectly mount it that I could find. If I recall correctly weren't they looking at your throttle body linkage at some point? If so I would say the dealer. Though if a bunch of people start popping up with them installed this way and they have not been to the dealer then I would sway toward the assembly line.

It really made a huge difference in how my bike runs. Still has a slight surge but overall is much better. I did see one guy at the dealership with a slobber rag over his shoulder! Just kidding. They try their best with what info they can get.

Yeah I just could not resist. Mine was actually loose. Must have bumped it when I was installing my ceramic coated headers the other day.

Under the seat (in front) just below the airbox cover. Actually clips to rear of the inner airbox baseplate.

Its in a great spot for water to run down the plastic air box cover and go into the baro sensor.

Maybe that is why they flipped it that way... They thought it was a moisture sensor...

With the problems Zac is having since the flash I hope this is his problem.

Nope, mine's always been oriented right.

This thread does give me an idea for "enticing" Loretta to learn faster tho.

Zack think you Baro sensor could be bad but not throwing codes?

Mine was upside down too!!

Going out for a ride shortly, hopefully that will cure my stalling problem!

I will be advising my dealer of this little problem as well tomorrow.

Thank you for the tip! Mine was upside down and totally full of water.

Seems to run smoother and stronger now. Yeah!

Cheers, Josiah

Cutty72, sounds like you might have another problem. My bike has never stalled out on decel. If anything it feels like its not going to stop. Like the idle is too high when slowing down. It will return to an Idle of about 1200rpm when the clutch is pulled in. Time to pick the dealers brain again. Good luck.

Did some probing of the baro sensor's signal line today.
Three wires - black/white = ground
red/white = +5 volts
Brown/blue = 3.31 volts

I'd like to hear what another one reads at near 5000' elevation.
Maybe sea level too...

If I remember I'll check my baro. My elevation is 781 here in Michigan.

After playing with the baro sensor, I'll swear Loretta's running MUCH better.
Short run, 20 miles or so, a little chugging below 4k but not too bad.
Coming thru the neighborhood, I idled at 14mph in 1st and about 18 mph in second.
Didn't even try to buck me off.

WTF is with this bike?
AFVs are still at 100/100...
