Do we have any members here? I know we have some frequent riders here and as I approach 10k I need to know who I have to beat out to 20k miles. |

Close here but no cigar. 7765 or so and rode the Shovel today. Nice leisurely putt thru farmlands full of new grass and dandelions. Bugs don't hurt as much on the Harley as they do on the Buell. Z |

10.2k here... Ran 10k over the weekend. Will be at my first valve job probably by the end of this weekend if the tires hold up. I'll have to slow down as I have a new job, but I will be riding as much as I can. |

The 1098 never pretends to be street bike, dry clutch and all. It's a Ducati SuperBike. I think I have been spoiled, my 06 Ulysses often did 65mpg always had the bags on, never less than 50 and my 08 Firebolt will give 45mpg constantly Even my busa that is only driven like it was stolen will bring back 40mpg under very hard use I never would have even noticed that 29 two years ago but with todays prices and 50% of the gas mileage of a 84ft torque Ulysses gets my attention. |

So I guess cause the 1098 is a "race" bike, it excuses poor gas mileage? At least the 1125r has a large enough tank to go triple digit miles before the gas light illuminates. Reports that the 1098 lights up in the 80 mile range under hard riding. If fuel economy is a concern, don't buy the 1125r. If you want a badass toy, then the 1125r is for you. I believe the worse your gas mileage, the more fun you are having. My MPG is 28. I won't talk bad about the Uly, but it isn't even in the same league performance-wise of the 1125r. |

29 miles per just means Nickcaro is listening to that new pipe sing. I won't be naysaying for that. It's actually a good thing! Congrats on your bike turning 10k Nick! |

Only 4000 miles on mine, but I have to react to the mileage comments. I doubt if anybody here keeps more careful records on fuel than I do - my Dad beat it in me when I was growing up, I guess. I had to log every gallon I put in the car - at 86 years old, he is still doing it. What the heck - I still clean my plate too... But I digress. Some numbers for consideration - and apologies if this contributes to the thread hijack... (confirmed and attested to accuracy by my 'Two Wheels Only' software) Buell 1125R - 3991 miles, avg 34.2, low 30.1, high 38.3 '06 Lightning Long - 14,521 miles, avg 46.3, low 35.1, high 52.8 '05 Honda VFR - 9761 miles, avg 40.7. low 32.6, high 46.2 The highs and lows are full tank figures. Averages are for full time of ownership. I am satisfied with the 1125. I averaged a bit over 35 mpg over four tanks of gas in the mountains last week. I was riding for fun, edge to edge on the tires, but not at license threatening velocities. Also post re-flash. The Lightning was my most economical ride, but 65 MPG...? I might have seen that riding downhill from the Continental Divide at 45 MPH... Jack |

I'm at 9,200+ now and expect to hit 10K by Monday. I bought my bike Jan 15th and it's been in the shop a collective total of 5 weeks. I had to change out my plugs last Friday at ~8,500 due to the front being severely fouled (rusty even). My friend who was helping me believes the coil seal failed allowing moisture in. He suggested some kind of splash guard. Anybody heard of such a thing? |

I thought you got a rusty appearance on a plug from running WAY lean? Maybe I'm jumbled in the head, but I thought the rusty appearance was the next step beyond dry and ashy? |

The Lightning was my most economical ride, but 65 MPG...? I might have seen that riding downhill from the Continental Divide at 45 MPH... Amen. The best I see from my 9SX is 50 MPG and that interestingly enough comes from very sprited riding in the Sierra Nevadas...trying to stay ahead of my friends on Japanese IL4s...successfully I might add. In mixed riding in town, it registers between 40 and 45 MPG. The best I have ever seen on the 1125r, is in the very low 30s. But then again, I am shocked at how long some Buellers tires last too.... |

Well if anyone wants the freeky Ulysses it's still at Sun Harley in Denver where I traded it. I often wish I had kept it but they never could stop it from leaking oil and I got frustrated, walked out to the floor and bought the 08 Firebolt. |
