Another very good day for Buell, if not perfect. Bruno Destoop finished second ahead of both French-Ducati-importer sponsored 1098Rs, and behind Ducati rider Bulle on a 999R in the rain. The French 1125Rs are still very, very stock. They have some suspension upgrades, and Destoop's team at least received a chain drive swingarm kit. However, because front chain sprockets are still in very, very short supply, they may have been forced to run a belt -- which only hurts because it doesn't allow gearing changes. They were running the stock muffler, ECU and calibration for the first two races, and only received a race ECU and tuning equipment prior to this event. They'll get better parts at later events, but their performance in near stock form against 1098Rs certainly seems to be making a point. | ||

Also, another near-stock 1125R from the Hannover dealer just won the twins class at the 3 hour endurance race at Oschersleben in Germany. That one for sure still has the belt drive. These bikes deserve way more respect than they are getting. | ||

between this and Crevier's excellent finish it was a VERY good weekend for Buell. And that's not even taking into account the privateers in the various organizations. | ||

Thanks Steve for letting us know. What a Buell weekend! I am really excited about Crevier, Estok, Destoop and whoever pulled off the victory at Oschersleben. I'll bet Jens is excited! These bikes deserve way more respect than they are getting. Don't hang your head Anony. The 1125R has had my respect from day one. And now it is earning it rapidly on tracks around the world. | ||

Also, another near-stock 1125R from the Hannover dealer just won the twins class at the 3 hour endurance race at Oschersleben in Germany. Whilst the Buell Hannover bike may be pretty stock mechanically, I think you'll find that, like most of the European teams racing the 1125 (not sure about the French teams yet), they have changed the entire front end and are using twin radial mount Beringer calipers on twin discs and an Ohlins front end. Julius Ilmberger/Buell Bonn run Sicom dual carbon discs with radial mount calipers (not sure which forks), whilst Free Spirits run dual radial mount Brembos in the Italian Supertwins series. Most of the Euro teams have experienced brake problems of varying seriousness on the 1125R in competition, which has required these changes to be made in order to make them competitive. Without wishing to get into the whole 'which brake is better' argument all over again, it makes me wonder why it always seems to be the teams over here that have brake problems yet the US teams seem to live with the stock brakes OK. Maybe we just have more corners? | ||

Ducatie Club race 2008 we started with our RR and ended with a stock 1125 and Matt, your absolute right about the disk, we used the 6 mm disk and RR race pads, and we needed to change theme after every session, because the pads where burned. and begone to fade, even in the rain ( it was a wet race ) we even took out all the anti rattle springs and sqweek plates just to let more air though. where going for the Sicom brake kit but very big thumps up for the 1125, bike is fast out off the box  (Message edited by bud on May 27, 2008) | ||

The French teams, as did Crevier, ran the standard ZTL set-up, with 2015-compound racing pads and optional 6mm disc. |
