Yesterday I went for a 200 mile ride and I noticed that the M2's shifting started getting notchy and rough (had the detent plate and clip replaced about 1000 miles ago). About half way back I shut the bike off and when I tried turning it back on nothing. The "N" indicator is on and the clutch is pulled in, but nothing happens when I hit the button, it doesn't even turn over. I am about ready to put it up for sale and get something else... |

my m-2 had a bad kick-stand switch and would do that... i by-passed the clutch and kick-stand switches and no more problemo... what the heck, harleys dont have em... |

I cut the jiffy switch totally out of my M2 just to avoid similar problems. There's some very easy fixes (pictures in the KV somewhere?) of a staple being used to bypass it. |

My Yamaha had the very same issue so its not exclusive to Buell. |

REMOVE that sidestand switch.... If you got NOTHING with the clutch pulled in, and the N indicator, and it didnt even try to start... The sidestand switch is you LAST fail safe, if its down, it will kill ignition(IIRC), and interupt the starter(FACT).... Chase |

Mine left me stranded about 45 miles from home. I decided that's what it was, disconnected the switch and found a small piece of metal lying in the parking lot. Folded it in half, pushed it in to jump the pins and it's still there. This happened last summer. |

How would I go about bipassing this kick stand sensor? |

There's a small switch that is screwed into the frame down where your side stand pivots. That is the one that has probably gone bad. Find the connector for it and on the bike side of the wiring harness, jumper the connector. You can easily make your jumper from a paper clip. If your bike starts, voila, you have found the culprit. Then you have a choice, either leave the switch out permanently or order a new one. |

the wires coming from the kick stand should be black and tan... cut them below the plastic connector and twist them together... i soldered mine and heat shrinked it... you can do the same thing to the clutch wires if you want.. |

Well I went out the next day and it started up just fine and worked great all day. Shifting is starting to get a little sloppy again so I am going to tighten the primary chain and see what happens I guess. Oh and I orderer some CR lows from Rocky Mountain so I will see how those work this weekend. |
