Guys,

Thought you might want to check out this thread in the Racing section....it is after all the first time that the 1125r has gone against IL4s in professional racing (as far as I know). It is exciting.

What a performance by the 1125r and Steve Crevier. This might shutup all the naysayers for a while. Steve finished ahead of ALL the GSXR1000s despite a 40-50 horsepower disadvantage to the field.

Great performance, but where do you get the other bikes having a 40-50 horsepower advantage.

The rules limit is 185 rear wheel horse power. So good the IL4's are putting down 185. Crevier's is putting 135 to the rear wheel per annoy.

From the Canadian Superbike program where they measure the rear wheel horsepower (it's limited to 185.). Szoke's bike measured 181, Lacombe 175, Stepper 182, etc.

Still up there. Figured they were closer to 185 than the 1125R but was not sure on exact #'s. Thanks for the info.

Here are some outtakes from an article concerning the Canadian Superbike Series taken from:

http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=3 2525

May 25, 2008, ©Copyright 2008, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc.

From a press release issued by Parts Canada Superbike Championship organizers:

In a remarkable performance Maple Ridge, B.C.’s Steve Crevier finished third in the debut of the Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada / Ruthless Racing Buell 1125R.

Crevier qualified eighth on the Buell and spent most of the race battling with the Team Suzuki / Blackfoot / Picotte Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000 of Francis Martin. The pair initially ran seventh and eighth but moved up as a number of the leaders ran into problems.

That put Martin in third and Crevier fourth, but despite a big horsepower disadvantage the twin-cylinder Buell passed the Suzuki on lap 19 and held on to the finish.

“It’s quite amazing,” said Crevier, a six-time Canadian Superbike champion. “We only got the bikes last Friday, and the crew has been slaving for a week solid. We even had to use a DOT rear tire because our rim was too narrow for the slick. It got a little mushy at the end but it felt OK.”

These are only blurbs taken out of the full article, which talks about the winner of the race, but I thought it was interesting that the 1125R passes the GSX-R on lap 19 despite the difference in HP and on a DOT tire, not a slick. Hmmmm! What if they had a Slick?

Just thought it was interesting and thought some of you might think so too.

Post race tech....

ZX-10, 173 HP, 378 lbs.
R-1, 176 HP, 400 lbs.
1125r, 134 HP, 409 lbs.

Speculation confirmed. Check out the similiar thread in the Racing section.

I'm extremely happy Buell did so well but I have two questions:

Was the track wet?

How long is the straightaway?

Track was dry as far as I know.

North America’s newest motorsports facility, Calabogie MotorSports Park is a 5 kilometer road course situated on a 1,200 acre parcel of land in the picturesque town of Calabogie, Ontario. This world-class facility is home to the longest track in Canada, consisting of 20 turns, measuring 40 feet wide, and features a 2,000 foot long straightaway. Since opening in the fall of 2006, the Alan Wilson designed track has become the preferred destination for North American motorsports enthusiasts and is recognized as one of the most aesthetically pleasing driving facilities in North America thanks to the proximity of its woodlands, its adherence to the natural topography of the site and the sheer drama of its course design.

I guess the writer of that bit of PR has never been to BMP! I wonder how many acres of land Mr. Barber has down there in the south?

I thought an extra 42hp and a 2000' straightaway would have given the advantage to the I-4's. Not to mention the dot tire and extra weight. Thats amazing.

You have to see Crevier ride in person to appreciate the extent of his riding talent. It is truly awesome to see trackside. He is also one hell of a funny guy to hang out with!

Absolutely a great guy all around.

Too bad they don't have a race in BC later in the year. I would be all over that one. I have been looking for a reason to visit and that would be perfect. Not many road courses in Western Canada, eh?

What's the story on this race? Anybody here see it, or know of where to read a full write-up on it yet? A 3rd is very impressive against the i.l. fours. Down 40+ rwhp and on a dot rear tire, it must be the riders talent? It's amazing.

Steve has more riding talent in a hangnail than I do in my whole body.

Rode with him once doing grass track where some of his friends were getting ready for the ISDE. He was faster than these off-road pros and he was riding an old-school XR 600! He was blasting slick hairpins on his pegs - quite the show.

What's the story on this race?

Buell rode near 7th place most of the race, still a great showing. The Team green ran into themselves in the second to last lap and that changed everything.

Still a great Job for team Buell.
