I have just purchased a 99 X1. Only engine mods are Buell Race ECM, K&N air filter & Wileyco exhaust. The bike is running stupid rich, and fouled a plug halfway through ride home. It has a Power Commander...I want to know if i remove it, if I will need to do anything further regarding ECM learning procedure on ECM, or if i can just pull the thing. Only other option is does anyone have a base map I can flash to the PC. The previous owner had started tuning the PC, but did not finish completely. I don't really see a need for the PC with such basic bolt ons...or am i mistaken? I'm new to bike "tuning" but no stranger to the automotive side. I just want a reliable ride for the bike. I'm not looking for any crazy HP gains etc... Thanks in advance for any help. Gus |

Check the Knowledge Vault for information on a program called ECMSpy. It works very well to remap your ECM if you wish to. Since you have the race ECM, you should not need the Power Commander. I would remove it and restore the original wiring, get a new set of plugs, and use ECMSpy program to zero the TPS. I believe that will solve your problems. The program is available free, you will have to make or buy a cable. |

thanks. i pulled the plugs and both were horribly fouled. the PCs A/F sensor is reading lean 100% of the time, but its definately running VERY rich. i swapped back in an old set of plugs and she started up ok and ran. going to go for a ride for a bit but then park it and replace plugs and rip out the PC. i will look into the software and ill search out the cable, but if anyone has a direct link to one and could post thatd be rad. i dont want to do any further tuning on the race ecm though...just want her running perfect as she sits now. thanks again. gus |

GOt a new O2, ripped out the PC, swapped plugs & oil. Running MUCH better now. The PC is up for sale now for anyone that feels like tuning it. Will be getting the TPS reset at some point soon, but she's not running bad at all. Thanks for your help. |
