The number of contracts requiring ABS is quite staggering. A lot of this has nothing to do with how well it does or doesn't work. But when you have bids from BMW, Honda, HD, and others which offer bikes with ABS standard, it does become an issue. I also found it interesting that it looks like they based the police bike on the X and not XT. Not sure why that was, but I'm sure they had their reasons. By the way, anybody see that they are claiming 50+ MPG? Yeah, right! I think 40+ is more realistic (and the MPG spreadsheet people have been using around here bares that out). The XB12XP will sell to some cities, but I suspect that most of the city, county, and state contracts will continue to go to HD and BMW. Wayne |

"I also found it interesting that it looks like they based the police bike on the X and not XT." My theory is the increased steering lock. |

By the way, anybody see that they are claiming 50+ MPG? But they do include that those numbers are by government formula and actual riding and riding habits will vary. They could have just quoted the numbers the way hybrids and other car makers do, without a reality check included. I HATE the idea of ABS on a bike, not sure why exactly. I'm not afraid of my brakes and as a kid started riding in the dirt so I am pretty comfortable being my own ABS. |

Is there any other way to get a look at these pics? My job is blocking them. Thanks |

I think there where issues with the First Gen on Police ABS... 2005, like 1500 bikes where recalled.. I think the recall left a bad taste in peoples mouths.. I don't care how good a rider you are ABS does its job 100% of time. The tests do not lie.. I think this is Harley good move HD/Buell's part.. Its also great counter move with so many municipalities going to other brands.. I'm trying to throw HD under the bus but those big baggers have limitations, Lean angle, Speed, weight, ability to ride in different terrain, etc.. the Uly is so much more versatile machine.. I think Motormen will love this bike... |

I thought about powder coating my pegs, shifter and brake pedal when I did the rest of my powder coating, but I thought that my boots would wear down the powder coating pretty quicky...then it would look ugly. |

+2 on the aux lighting. You'd think they would package the mount and regular lights up for sale to us civilians... |

Looks like different bags altogether: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/6 33/335/ But that does seem to confirm that "any" H-B bag will fit up to the Uly rack system... |

Top rack in the pic looks identical to my '06's rack. Chances are they kept the same racks...no sense adding *that* into the cost as well. |

I wonder if the gearing will be different. I don't think my Uly would be fun to ride at parade speeds for hours. |

The bags are H & B Junior 30 Liter bags. We put a set on my wife's XB12Ss. They're good bags. |

Crusty, do share your secret for mounting the bags on your SS. I still got my 3 bags off my old Uly, and I would love to throw them on the SS |

DO the Junior bags mount on the stock frames? |

Most likely yes. I have the junior flashes on my City-x (see the thread on the XB forum that is active right now). I could use the Journey's on that rack or the Juniors. I believe they are mix and match. (Message edited by tankhead on May 28, 2008) |

RE: Hepco & Becker Junior Flash Sidecases, 30 liters So the standard side racks from Buell, will allow fitment of the 30 liter Hepco & Becker Junior Flash Side Cases, correct? John |

Rwcfrank, all virgin headers when they leave the factory are silver, but once they feel the heat, they get the goldish then blue colors we are used to seeing. |

The head of the engine is black instead of silver. OHHHHHH And there also is a large black box under the seat for the added electrical "stuff" I am sure. |
