Most of us are framiliar with having washed our bike using some kind of engine cleaner, only to find that it has dulled or left streaks on the aluminum. Well I just finished washing my Cyclone with GUNK's Citrus Engine Brite. I have found no blemishes on any of the surfaces. The product caught my eye because of the "CITRUS". I'll be useing this product from now on, and it does pack a lot of cleaning power in a can. there was no scrubing or brushing involved, and of course while driving my Buell a week ago the oil fill plug poped up and fouled the back half of my bike, along with a months worth of riding dirt and grime. I guess I'll have to replace that next, but anyway I would recomend the Gunk Citrus Engine Brite | ||

How is is used? Cold engine ? Spray on, soak, brush/wipe and hose off? I've got a huge wad of crud that looks like it used to be an S3 and I'm trying to figure out how to find my motorcycle underneath all the goo and dirt. | ||

I've always just used simple green cut with a little water. Don't usually need a brush - just spray on a hose off. | ||

I just sprayed on, let set and used a hose with a pistol grip sprayer, thats all, though if I had scrubed a little, all the better I supose. like Xl1200r said he mixed, well I have also done it that way hoping to have the right amount of soap and water ratio, and enevitably get less than good results, my fault, but the Gunk Citrus is my choice | ||

+1 on mild simple green. I have for years heard people rave over a Honda cleaning product. I don't think it is still produced, but I have read about from all types of motorcycle owners. Maybe someone knows better what I am talking about. | ||

heres a little tip.... dont use carb and choke cleaner to remove exhaust soot from swingarm and brake rotor without blowing it off with water very good. left it sit overnight and it took about 10 miles of dragging the rear brake before i could feel them doing anything, lol | ||

S100 total cycle cleaner kinda expensive but well worth it IMO,I buy the 1 liter pump bottle which is cheaper and last longer than the spray bomb. No scrubbing and safe for all surfaces, bugs, road tar and grunge disappear with a garden hose rinse. Makes the tires look like new also. | ||

Corporate is talking about Honda Spary Cleaner and Polish. Not really a total bike cleaner, but works great for touch ups. It is awesome on plastic, winshields, visors, helmets, prety much anything. I take a small can on trips. Similar to Plexus, only it works on virtually any surface I have ever tried it on. It also leaves some protection behind, to make the next cleaning easier. It is still available, but the recently had to change the formula for some new California emissions law BS. | ||

I have for years heard people rave over a Honda cleaning product. http://www.originalbikespirits.com/ Honda spray cleaner and polish rocks but when the bike is off road dirty I go with s100 and water. The link above is for the honda polish under a new name, I've seen it advertised in the cycle rags as honda polish in a new can. The honda spray cleaner was banned in California for a while and caused the rumors of it not being available anywhere but it was never gone down here. They reformulated and sell in Cali again from what I read. Anyway it's great for quick clean and will handle almost anything, I just prefer to wash big clumps of dirt off with a hose 1st so I go to the S100 for that. For traveling, the armour all car wash wipes in a bag are good. +1 again on Simple Green. I keep a spray bottle filled with 50/50 SG and water. Hose bike, cover with the spray, mitt off the chunks and rinse. | ||
