Has anybody tried swapping these seats to find out if the cg seat will lower the overall seat height on a regular 12s?

If you switch to the cg you might want to get in touch with special ops and purchase one of their heat shields. Less foam=more heat under your bum.

Yes it does lower it a bit as would removing foam from your stock seat.

the rough numbers are (if I remember right):
*CG seat lowers ride height by .7"
*CG suspension (springs and re-valve) lowers ride height by 1.1"

another option is to get your seat re-done by a custom seat maker -- most likely using a custom seat pan and better quality foam. you could even get a heat-shield from Odie added in.

i have an scg. heat has never been an issue with the stock seat. but the stock scg seat is not for long trips. it isn't the most comfy.

I had my scg seat redone by Spencer. It's a great improvement. You can't tell by looking at it that anything has been done to the seat but as soon as you sit on it you know. The workmanship is very high and it only cost $75.

I took my seat to a guy in Denver and had him put more but softer foam in my seat and was definitely more comfortable. It may have put me up a bit more but I got used to it.

+1 on the heat tho, I thought I was gonna have hot buns by the time I got home the other day. I do have some heat shield material under the seat but may need to add either more or something different.

No substitute for Odie's heat shields -- also ceramic coating the pipes helps too -- the heat is mainly from the rear header (huh, I wonder if a RSS would reduce heat...another reason to fit one maybe?).
