Yeah, but empirical evidence shows that an 1125R was faster then a GSXR 1000 with the same rider. That 1 cc must make a big difference |

The gsxr only has at least 20 RWHP more, i'm sure the Buell can stomp 'em easily.LOL |

Reepicheep, sorry without all the info, that was not empirical evidence,to much info left out.The 1125R was slower than a GSXR1000 on the same track with a less talented rider.Sorry Reep, although it is a great bike, nothing indicates that it would be competitive against the 1000 I-4s. |

The newest issue of BIKE has a comparo with the RC8, RSV, 848, and 1098... it looks like they left out the 1125 which really doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe they read the CycleWorld test and thought they would have to swap out too many bikes during the comparo. |

Sorry Dale (Xb984R), Jeremy Toye is an ex-AMA Professional road racer who has finished in the top ten in multiple AMA Superbike races. The man has game as evidenced by the fact that he beat all comers in the highly contested Toyota Formula-1 Unlimited race by over twelve seconds. That is THE big money (for WSMC racing) series. He was THE fastest man on the track all day. But since Shawn and the 1125R equaled Jeremy's best lap time, Jeremy's now a slouch? I like Shawn a lot. He's a credit to Buell and motorcycle road racing. His pedigree is more impressive than Jeremy's for sure. However, with his limited track time of late, I'd not put him ahead of Jeremy by too much. Jeremy is no slouch as you seem to want to make him out to be. Exaggeration is the next closest thing to lying. Bad form too. And to say that the Buell was slower is a joke. By 0.04 seconds? For all practical intents and purposes that is an identical lap time. It's darn funny how some folks think that all that matters is peak HP. Racing tuners know better. . . . and does anyone want to bet this wasn't Toye's second time on the track with his bike? I'd expect Toye's bike is highly refined with suspension, exhaust, tuning, gearing etc. all nailed down while Shawn is just starting to work on those things. . . . but the bottom line is this proves that the 1125R can hang with the big boys. A few months ago, there were people here ridiculing the idea that the 1125R could hang with a GSXR when an anonymous poster suggested that might be the case. And what about all the other GSXR's that didn't even come close to Shawn's times? I think the argument is over. The 1125R can hang with the big boys. Would a stock GSXR beat a stock 1125R on the same track with the same rider? Probably, but clearly these real numbers (as opposed to the speculation we've been dealing with for the past 10 months) show that the two bikes can't be that far off. I think this shows that the 1125R platform is sound. Hopefully Buell will create an 1125RR and really go racing at the top levels. But even if they don't, it's clear that the 1125R is no slouch. The only thing standing between Buell and bragging rights for some big race wins now is the large amount of time and money it would take to put everything together for something like that. That's really saying something. This weekend, Steve Crevier will be racing the 1125R in Canadian Superbike. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe that's the first time an American motorcycle will be racing at the Superbike level since the VR1000. And it must be the first American production motorcyle to race at that level since . . . when? . . . the late '60's, early '70's? Buell has come a long way. . . . and some things I've been thinking about since Crevier announced he'd be riding a Buell in Canadian Superbike . . . . . . Will that series be a test-bed for an 1125RR? Will a strong performance by Crevier convince Harley big-wigs to pull the trigger on a full-on Buell AMA Superbike competition . . . with maybe an eye toward WSBK? I found it interesting that Buell and Pirelli are giving away tickets to WSBK on Buell's website. Am I reading too much into that? A couple years ago, there was a rumor that not only KTM, but Harley Davidson was also interested in WSBK rules regarding 1200 cc twins because they were considering a Buell entry. At the time (before introduction of the 1125R) the rumor seemed far fetched . . . but it seems less so now, doesn't it? One thing that's sure. The 1125R has a LOT better chance of being competitive at the Superbike level than the VR1000 ever was if Buell/Harley decide to invest in something like that. So let's keep our fingers crossed for Steve Crevier this weekend. If it goes well, this could be the start of very big things. |

If anyone finds a way to monitor the Canadian Superbike racing this weekend, please share that information here. I sure do miss the old days of SpeedVision when they covered the Canadian Superbike races. Good luck to Steve Crevier and Dealy's Racing Team. I was fortunate enough to meet Steve at Texas World Speedway during a round of XBRR testing. He's an affable fun guy and likes to go fast on motorcycles. His experience will be very valuable to any racing effort. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, not like I did for MV Augusta last year in AMA SBK, where Team Fast By Feracci was sorely and surprisingly disappointed. Apparently high hopes and all the worlds good intentions and painstaking preparations aren't enough to win races. Who knew? |

BadWeB News Point Reports are now coming in hinting that the Buell 1125R's competition at Willow Springs this past weekend would have finished much better if not for problems with fogging face-shields. |

Blake, are you claiming that saying a rider that has finished 6th and 11th in Superbike total points a few years is a better rider than a rider that has never finished higher than 15th is an exaggeration, talk about bad form.Only on here can you be called a liar for stating someone is a better rider when the proof is in the results. I think it's hard (if not impossible) to overstate just how difficult Steve C's task will be. Not only will he be going up against ZX10's, CBR's, R1's and GSXR's that have inherently more powerful inline 4's and have been developed and refined by their manufacturers to be racing machines for over 20 years, but the specific bikes and riders are likely race veterans as well. It's a good bet that the riders who will be finishing in the top 5 were riding identical or nearly identical bikes last year (and maybe in some other races this year). They've worked out all the quirks, set everything up exactly as they like it and fully understand the strengths and weakness' of the bikes and themselves on the bikes. Hopefully Steve will be able to finish in the top 10, but even that may be optimistic. A podium at this point would probably be next to impossible. So I'm going to see how it shakes out with that in mind. A top 10 finish would be a very positive first step. |

You no read good. And suddenly your characterization that Jeremy Toye is "no where near" Shawn Higbee has morphed into a much less extreme statement that Shawn is "a better rider than" Jeremy, which is about what I had previously affirmed as well. I'm curious, how much faster do you think Shawn can lap Willow Springs Raceway if he were on an IL4 literbike superbike racing machine compared to the near stock Buell 1125R? Jeremy Toye, the motorcycle racer at Willow Springs Raceway. 1. Wins $50,000 purse of 2006 Toyota 200 Motorcycle Race at Willow Springs, beating Steve Rapp (definitely NOT a slouch) to do so.
In victory lane Toye was presented the giant winner's check worth $50,000. Commenting on the hard racing between himself and Rapp he said "our driving styles are so different but the pace between us was about the same. There were spots where he was way faster and there were spots where I was way faster and it was like a yo yo. The Attack Team was really great today. They really pulled through during the pit stops and that's where we got our gift. All I had to do from there was just hold on. I knew that if we gave Rapp any little flinch he was going to come in and take it and I didn't want that to happen." |
WSMC Toyota 200 Willow Springs International Raceway Rosamond, California September 17, 2006 Race Results (top 5 of 40 total entries): 1. Jeremy Toye (Kaw ZX-10R), $50,000, 80 laps, 1:52:22.359 2. And he won with a bike that was reportedly close to stock, if you can believe that (per Anony). Just wait until more horses are squeezed out of that Rotax...but it is hard to put into words exactly how impressive this podium finish is for Buell and Buell racing. Hopefully, the factory will realize the racing potential here. |
