Which shock do you have on that bike.On my new/old S-2 I have the first recall shock and noticed its starting to leak also. When I talked to service manager at Vallejo he told me an interesting story.(After agreeing to replace with newest version)Seems he has contacts in suspension industry and the inside scoop says Showa had a large tank of hydraulic oil contaminated with very fine metal particles. This is the fluid they use in all their shocks. And this led to all our premature shock leaks. He told me after he heard this they took samples of several warrantied shocks and they all had microscopic metal particles.--Interesting rumour,no?? |

It's the stock shock on my 2001 M2. Interesting rumor for the older shock leaks. Was your shock replaced under the recall? My bike is under extended warranty so I would expect this to be covered. |

Az_M2: I know it's a wild idea but check your oil pump fittings. Mine on my 00' X-1 have loosened twice! The last time about 2 months ago it required 2+ turns to get it tight. You should have the newest shock and from BMC sources, there have been 0-no leakers of the newest shock. Time4A Shower Neil S. |

Aaron, Given your expertise in both s2 and blast LSR racing, what do you think of the s2 chassis as a basis for runing different engine configurations. I was thinking along the lines of swapping in a blast engine to run at different records next year. Paul |

Well, most anything can be done with enough time and effort. Putting a Blast engine in an S2 would be a challenge, though, the rear mounting system and rear suspension are totally different. |

Aaron, Thanks for getting back to me. I am planning for next year already. The question is whether to keep racing the s2 chassis or to build something else. Donny Camlin builds dirt track frames for the pro circuit so fabrication isn't an issue. Right now we are deciding what our inventory of parts will let us do. Lots of people have been very good to us with parts, including youself. We will have the motor on an engine dyno comparing the top end you sent us with one Donny and the Hoban brothers built us. We also have heads for a 1350 done by jerry branch?? It will be great to hear the motor running again, although my state farm agent says i ain't covered anymore!! Take Care Paul |

I found a project online of a guy building a single cylinder S2...they were planning on using the stock cases minus one cylinder and it seemed to be a pretty major undertaking. I looked for the page but the link no longer works. |

Add message box missing from "Cool Buell Pix" section, too. And I'm not done posting pix from my childhood yet! (...or maybe Admin saw my last two and decided to pull the plug...) r-t |

AZ M2 all older bikes with exposed spring WP shock had Showa's for recall. Then these started to leak and there is a newer version .Thats what is on my other S-2(its first Showa leaked also)and what is gonna go on other S-2.This version comes with a different front shock mount to go with it as shock is shorter. |

Neil, RT, Missing "Add a Massage" boxes have been resurected. Thanks for the heads up. I was fiddling with the board code. VERY dangerous! Y'all noticed our new sponsor right? And the new/improved banner ad scheme? More to come! |

Wild guess - The S2's use a Stock HD type flywheel and the other Buells use a light one, suppose the heavy flywheel causes a different type of vibration that is not as so hard on the bikes? Does the above have any base is reality? |

It's not Buell related, but if you want to see an air cooled American made V-twin about to overtake a bunch of pesky little GP bikes coming out of a corner, try w.w.w.stripbike.com ;click bulletin board,go to V-twin racing, then Mark Connor, scroll down to photo at bottom of page.hehehe |

S2pido, "Sheesh. BannerWebBikers!" This site with 20+GB bandwidth per month (and growing) ain't free amigo. The sponsors pay to keep it going. I think a banner is a small price to pay. Aaron, I've received similar comments from others. I've asked our ISP to look into the matter. Must have something to do with the maintenance they performed the other day. I can't imagine a simple banner scheme would cause problems. Then again, that's probably a dangerous assumption. |

Quote from Az_M2 "My bike is under extended warranty so I would expect this to be covered." That all depends on what extended warranty you got. My 00 M2 shock was not covered by my 3 year extended warranty and I had to pay $100 for a replacement shock on a 16 month old bike. I'm not sure if your shock is covered by the same program that got me the $100 replacement either. I was pretty upset that I got charged the $100 to replace a clearly defective shock. Buell customer service was absolutely worthless in this matter also. If your bike is less than a year old, you better get it to the dealer quick. After one year, you are screwed.... |

If it's any consolation, Peter, I'm having the same problems, and it's happening both from work and home, two entirely different connections. |
