Hello all. I need either an updated shock and mount for a rear shock for a 1999 S3. From what I understand, the shock for later tube frame bikes is the same. As an alternate, I would also consider an aftermarket shock, if reasonably priced. I just cannot afford a new OEM or aftermarket right now, and my S3 is sitting with a bleeding shock, just begging to be ridden. Any help would be much appreciated. "Fitment" is as easy as 16.5" or 14.5", those're your only 2 choices for a tuber. And you can change a bracket to fit the "other" size. | ||

I've got this 2K X1 that I'm parting out If you've got the time to wait, I have to set-up the Mikuni carb before I can start tearing it down, maybe a couple of weeks. | ||

Is the bracket for the 14.5 inch shock specific to an S3? If not, will the bracket from any upgraded tuber work? | ||

Not specific,pretty much any tuber should work as long as it is for short shock. You can get the Showa shocks redone by a good suspension shop,set up for your weight/riding style for about 1/2(or less0 than a Penske,etc. I used Aftershocks in Palo Alto CA. | ||

My shock measures 16.5 eye to eye. I don't know how to add pictures. Shock has some road grime on it. Has laid on plywood for 1 1/2 years no oil on floor. Any body interested? | ||
