i dunno. i'd imagine that in bangladesh they ride 125cc bikes. recently i went to the philippines and everyone was riding these little motorbikes. top speed on most roads ~40mph. i ride my scooter with a pair of vans and no socks and don't fear for my life. | ||

I've been looking for some suitable footwear to use with my perforated leathers. Looks like the search is over!!  Seriously though, I wish I'd thought of those. That guy is going to be a zillionaire. India, Philippines, Egypt... those guys will eat em up. | ||

I find this very disturbing. I guess after nearly losing my left leg in a street accident (and I was wearing leathers and sidi vertebras) my perspective on "proper attire" for riding is a little skewed. ATGATT....and sandals are NOT riding gear no matter what gimmicks they add | ||

what is really sad is that some people will actually buy them thinking that they are what you should wear when riding a motorcycle. Just another case of marketing doing the public an injustice! | ||

Hey, my sandals don't have gear shaft protection, "Fluorescent" Night Vision nor fiberglass-reinforced anything. I need these sandals to keep from mashing my toe when upshifting while trying to avoid getting hit from behind at night as the footpegs try to break my soles.  Actually they'd be pretty stylish footwear at the SCAB Laguna Seca MotoGP campsite this year! When it's 105 deg outside! | ||

I just spent three weeks in Nepal. A few local riders wore sneakers... The majority wore flip-flops... The hard-core dudes were bare-foot. In Nepal a 250cc bike is considered to be a BIG bike. Only those few (Made in India) Royal Enfield Bullets are bigger than 250cc. (The above are observations, not justifications) | ||

Seriously, I've been in Bangalore and New Delhi. And like Asdf... this is an observation, not a justification, they don't move fast enough in traffic to get hurt if they fall down. (I chose fall down vs wreck because it's probably more like falling off your 10 speed over there) The thing that bothered me was seeing the ENTIRE FAMILY on one bike. I've seen dad riding with mom sitting side saddle and Junior between dad and the handle bars and to top it off, the baby still in diapers smashed between mom and dad!!! Now that's Commuting!!! | ||

The above photo is a bit unusual... I did not observe a family of SIX on a bike in Nepal. Three folks on a bike is common. Four folks is not unusual. I THINK I saw five on a bike once. I also noticed that saddle bags are usually installed only on the right side of the bike. Gals who wear traditional garments ride side-saddle, so a saddle bag on the left side would interfere with hauling chicks. In Nepal, almost every bike has a crash guard mounted on it. At the top of the crash guard is a small protrusion sticking up vertically. The protrusion is used as a hanger for the flimsy plastic shopping bags that are given out by most stores, worldwide. The handles of the flimsy bags are looped over the protrusion. The bags are just like those used by grocery stores in the USA. Several plastic bags can be attached to each side of the bike. The speeds driven are USUALLY slow enough, so the handles of the bags do not tear off, and the bags do not flutter into the hot fins of the air-cooled engine. OH! BTW! Nepal has a mandatory helmet law for the DRIVER. It is not uncommon to see the chin-bar of a full-face helmet protecting the FOREHEAD of the driver. If you intend to haul your family of 3 or 4 up steep mountain roads at high altitude, you may want to consider getting at least a 125cc bike... If you can afford it. | ||

Ya snobs! In the Philippines all the "tricycle" (150cc 4 stroke MC with sidecar) taxi drivers I ever saw wear the super cheap and thin flip-flop sandals. I saw literally hundreds of them and not a single shoe among them. Motorcyclists too. Never saw so much as a shoe. Almost all these guys will not even be able to afford this biker sandal. At least 80% are running at least one bald tire, and about 75% of these four-strokes are smoking like two-strokes. |
