UrbanMoto is a magazine with International distribution.

BS. It's a rag and you're part of their "guerilla marketing" campaign.

Admit it. You're trying to promote the piece of crap, you ran a google search, found this site, and posted to try to get people to look up your mag.

Your mom's calling. I think breakfast is ready.

You're going to have to do a lot better than that to defend a magazine that doesn't even do it's own research and cries about a tenth of a second difference in quarter mile times.

I did just learn about a couple of Twins races out in California at Willow Springs where an 1125R put a whooping on a gaggle of Ducatis, including 1098.

I just finished reading the CW Ducati<>Buell comparo.

And I have to be honest....

If I were the "average" sport bike consumer (not necessarily a Buell aficionado), I would cross the 1125 off my short list based on this comparo. Performance aside, it's embarrassing that Buell had to provide 4 different bikes over the course of the review.

"put a whopping on a group of Ducatis"

Whopping isnt the word for it, off the line, the 1125 SMOKED them all to turn 1 and pulled .5-1 second on them EACH lap,

this didn't happen once, but twice, within 1 1/2 hours of each other, SAME 1125 used in both.

I have to say I am absolutely convinced the 1125 can more than hang with the Ducs. 1098, 848, you name it. I cant even try to say it was just a better rider because the acceleration from the start and every straight was NO COMPARISON, the Buell smoked them hands down.

Damn proud to leave the track that day on my own 1125...even if I cant ride mine as fast as any of the guys who were on the track that day.

A properly prepped Buell 1125R should be able to compete with other brands of racebikes...that wasn't really the question, was it? The Buell is an excellent machine and all reports say that it is easy to ride fast. As far as the rider's impact on the drag race at the start and the drive out of corners, it is hard to discount how good the guy or gal is in the saddle. Ricky Gadson has made a living on how well he launches bikes out of the hole. Ben Spies has won championships on how well he gets a drive out of corners. I am not refuting your eye witness account though, but I am saying that the rider is always a critical element on the track.

Here is wishing the Buell 1125R teams continued success. I look forward to watching them race and win.

"You're going to have to do a lot better than that to defend a magazine that doesn't even do it's own research and cries about a tenth of a second difference in quarter mile times."

The story centered around problems obtaining a bike from Harley. A totally believable prospect for anyone who has ever dealt with Harley. It went on to use the story in Cycle World as a "non-comparison" of the 1125R and 1098.
Now, keep shooting the messenger, that usually improves your credibility.

the 1098 had a lot of problems from the get go also. here we are arguing about a magazine test on 2 bikes that will only be owned by enthusiasts from either side. We all know the average rider will get a bike from the big four (with all things being equal would smoke either one of these bikes). Do you hit up the Duc sights and say how the buell went faster than the ducati even with its teething problems? Some one should look in to that.

It's the messenger that needs help with credibility, not I. I've at least ridden the 1125R.

Depending on the rider, the 1125R was as much as half a second quicker per lap than the 848, and that was on a track where the 1125R wasn't able to utilize its power advantage. Unless you'd like to claim that the 1098 will handle better than the 848, the 1125R should compare quite well to the 1098 despite the $4,000 price difference.

Before you get started on the 1098's power advantage over the 1125R, take note:

Inspite of the apparent power advantage, the i-4's don't seem to lap much if any quicker when they are conpared to top of the line twins in the mags.

Ducati seems to be doing fine in WSB, thank you very much.

Just because it's a twin,( an 1125R, 848, 1098, Mille, ) doesn't mean it's going to lap any slower than a"Big 4"

All things being equal.

WSB is not street bikes, thank you very much. I believe we were talking street bikes, drag racing and average owners. The il4s dip into the nines. Sorry to ruffle you feathers.

Now... I believe YOU were talking drag racing etc. ...

If you want to talk street bikes and average owners,

The horsepower "advantage" of the il4 means even less.

Drag racing is a whole different kettle of fish...

with equal riders the jap. bikes win. You dont need to convince me of anything, I have an 1125 and I feel it is a better bike and I root for ducatis when I catch a race. The difference is miniscule but it is there.

Z:

They are LOADS of fun!!! First time I was on one was in EVV. A good Buelligan friend (MRR) beat out all the H-D's on his S1. Hey it's all fair in love and drags. His S1 only had a stage II head and cams plus a nice pipe (can't think of it's name now but it was a non-baffled reverse cone megaphone, maybe Force).

The H-D crowd got sooo upset that the Dealership gave out two 1st places for top HP. Someone complained that a Buell was not really a Harley (WTF).

Too much fun!

would be cool to see a comparison of ducati 1098 , buell 1125 r, the new Ktm bike, aprilia, and the rc 51 to see what would be written up.....REX

The newest issue of BIKE has a comparo with the RC8, RSV, 848, and 1098... it looks like they left out the 1125 which really doesn't make a lot of sense.

Not if handling is a factor.

Smoke on this:

Cool!

Check this out:

1:23.848 best race lap for Jeremy Toye on GSXR1000 Superbike (Toyota Forumula 1 Ulimited)

1:23.888 best race lap for Shawn Higbee on the Glendale Buell 1125R (stock exhaust) (Formula Twins)

A virtual dead heat!

Jeremy Toye is a professional racer on par with Shawn Higbee. They each won their races by a wide margin.

Let the doubters commence their excuse-making and prevaricating.

The Buell 1125R is for real folks.

The Ducatis couldn't touch the 1125R this weekend at Willow Springs Raceway.

The comment about "the average rider" is strange given that the 1125R is reportedly much easier to ride fast. That would seem to soundly refute any assertion that "We all know the average rider will get a bike from the big four (with all things being equal would smoke either one of these bikes)." Unless of course all you are talking about is a drag race or land speed run.

If that is what you are after, there are few choices for you, the Hayabusa or the ZX14, pick one. If that is the kind of performance that you are looking for, then you have two from which to choose, neither of them being any form of competitive road racing machine.

More from the real world...

The (Buell 1125R) has impressive power. A friend of mine was on a Triumph Speed Triple 1050. He said I could pass him like he was standing still. Also, there was a Ducati 1098 out there that I could pass on the front straight. (Thought that was kinda cool.)

Sorry Blake,Jeremy Toye is no where near Shawn Higbee. We will have to wait to see how the 1125R does against the 1000 I-4s.So far anecdotal evidence shows that a 1124R was slower than an GSXR 1000 with a less talented rider.
