Sorry , but I tried to search old thread's on this but couldn't find the one i was looking for....... What happened with those of you who were leaking fluid from the weep hole at the clutch housing ??? mine is leaking now and removing all the paint , very disappointing , first my disappointment with the surging since the re-flash , now my paints being stripped off with dot4 ....  And as of right now Im not so sure my dealership is going to know what to do with either problem... they fixed it but took three weeks to get the parts, turned out the new clutch cover will be different. | ||

Behind that little round cover is the piston for the clutch, that piston has an 0-ring on it (2 I think). Those o-rings should be your problem. It should be pretty easy for your dealer to fix (if they have the parts). | ||

I had the parts ordered in before scheduling a drop off for repair. I politely explained that I cannot be without my bike for extended periods of time. Most likely, your tech/parts department will have to call BMC to make this happen. Keep adding fluid and bleed if ness'y while you wait. | ||

Mine did the same and was replaced oh.. about 2300 miles ago.. I took it to the dealer who promptly verified a leak. Then got on the phone with Buell's Initial Care program and worked out with them a parts list to be ordered (including cover). I had use of my bike (just keeping an eye on the fluid level) while waiting for the parts to come in. Once the parts came in, the service writer called me up and I waited around at the dealership while they replaced the assembly of parts. It took about 3 hrs. The tech showed me the cylinder. The two o-rings were intact, but the piston surface was scuffed - potentially from improper deburring of the cylinder. That's just a guess. Fact is, a call by the dealer to BMC will reveal the exact parts list and this will be pretty painless. | ||

Yes, new cover...as BMC said any contact with dot 4 on painted surfaces are procedure to replace under warranty. | ||

I posted pics on buelletinboard if you wanna check them out. No part # on invoice but i do remember they bill out 14.8 hrs. in labor | ||

Mine's at the dealer right now for this problem. It started leaking @ around 800 miles. Then it stopped leaking for a while, then started leaking again. My dealer also called BMC and had the parts pre-ordered. All covered under warranty. | ||

Thanx guy's,  I'll call up my dealer and have them order things up for me , maybe have them Re-re-flash too while they're at it , or maybe I should leave well enough alone , seeing as it seemed fine before the flash , and now......not so much  | ||

Got mine back today and yea, my plastic plug is bigger too. Definitely a re-designed cover assy. I also got the Dot4 run off the bleeder screw too. Wasn't there when I left the shop, was there when I got her home. Must have had some fluid laying in the recess by the bleeder - the fluid will lay there on the sidestand and drip down the cover when you stand it up or lean it to the right.  I don't think it's leaking, just what was left over from the bleeding process. You'd think they would put some kind of finish on there that the DOT4 fluid would not attack so quickly. | ||

Taking her in Sat , apparently there is a third superceded clutch cover ??? They are just looking at it Sat for procedure purposes , and will file claim with Buell , order the parts and give me a call . They're gonna take a look at the ECM to see if they can find anything regarding the surging and popping , thats all I can ask . |
