I'm getting ready to tackle some basic upkeep on my '99 X1(dealer labor rates are silly). Oil & Primary oil change, new plugs, etc. I'm not completely ignorant (I can identify a wrench in a line-up) Is there any books that fill the void between the owner's manual & service manual? Buell Maintenance for Dummies?

IIRC the owners manual should have a section on changing oil, checking primary tension, etc. There should also be a checklist in there for which items get changed/adjusted/checked at each mileage interval.
