I have not tried a throttle lock, but I use a cramp-buster when I am going to be on the highway for any period of time. You can put them on and take them of in a couple seconds, and they are cheap. |

I dont know what I have on my XB9R, but it is nice and i ride with it on all the time (I call it my cruise control). It is a piece of rubber that is stretched tightly around the end of the handle bar that i just rest my wrist on so that my hand doesnt have to do anything. It is nice to ride with in the city, because i can grab the handle bar and that and have more in my hands and it seems to me to have more throttle response... I know its just my mind, but its more comfortable and I like it. |

Cheapest throttle lock ever. About $.50 at Napa. Just place the O-Ring in between the throttle grip and the starter switch/run switch pod. -Sam |

I got some bar end weights from Manic Salamander, they have a throttle lock model as well. the bar ends are well-made, and just running the bike for a minute I could feel the difference in vibration (the bar ends are HEAVY. like, might as well be made of lead). I don't do long highway stints so I didn't opt for the throttle lock, but it's still an option |

i installed a "vista cruise" throttle lock had to modify it a bit to make it all fit, but i'm soooo glad i did it. i cut the tab off the vista cruise, removed and sanded the grip end to make some space. installed with crazy glue.

where did you get the vista cruise throttle lock? do you have any problem with it vibrating loose? |

a local bike shop. i've seen them online... from the makers, not just on e-bay. cost was 23, plus tax. mod and install time about 2 hours, but i took my sweet-@$$ time. and don't worry about any safety issues. i was riding around with it "locked" and didn't realize until a few stoplights after i got off the highway. |

to answer your second question: no vibration issues, but it took some fine tuning to not overpower the throttle return spring when not engaged, and work when locked |

I also have the same set-up as Nillaice. It takes some Dremel work but works out great. I used a piece of bond I got from radio shack. It lets you make the adjustments on the set up and after an hour it is solid as a rock. Also makes it easier to remove when you replace grips or need to work on the handel bar |
