Wesco (West Coast Shoe) - some are sold here locally by Glory: http://www.glorysales.com/shop_wesco.html Factory website: http://www.westcoastshoe.com/wesco/ As is so often the case, limited domestic manufacture means a bit more bucks. |

4cammer, I've worn these (Combat Lite) boots while riding my XB12Ss, my friend's CBR1000RR and another friend's Ducati 749S. In no instance did I experience any difficulties with the shifter (once the boots were broken in). They really are the best, all around, most versatile boots I've ever owned. Comfortable for all day wear on my feet, protective enough that only the most hard core track boots could offer more protection, and water proof enough for anything short of standing in a pond. It is also "conservative" enough looking that once the uppers are covered by a pair of slacks, they don't look out of place in the office either. What more could you ask out of a boot?? Only drawback is they aren't made in the USA (if you consider that a drawback). |

It seems that many of us are riding with good work boots or tactical boots and not "pure motorcycle boots". Much better than the local gixxer and flip-flop crowd for sure. I've been hoping that there was an American made equivalent to this: http://www.metricbikes-superstore.com/teknic-viola tor-waterproof-boots-p-15045.html but the Bates are the closest so far. Workboots aren't quite as protective but I can wear them to work-at least the more stylish ones. My wife balked at the idea of me wearing loggers to the clinic... doc |

Well I was wrong the only way to tell if a Danner boot is made in the USA is look at the lable the boots made in the US have a flag with made in USA on it sewn on the outside. Chinese made boots have made in China in little bitty letters on the tag on the tongue. |

According to the Crusierworks web site, they are made in the Dominican Republic. The Story of Cruiserworks Cruiserworks is located in central North Carolina, in the quiet town of Hillsborough, and was the original brainchild of Allen and Beth Veach of Charlotte. Along the way, Robert Goforth and the present owners, Cara and Jay Crawford, have also shared in the growth of this upstanding company. Though there were many manufacturing hurdles to cross, everyone's goal was, and has always been, the same: to provide their loyal customer-base with a high-end quality product without compromising on integrity or customer service. And over the years, as Cruiserworks was nurtured by it's different owners, the company as a whole has stayed true to that goal. Cruiserworks' products are better than ever and the customer service team is loyal to a fault. This is how it has always been and always will be. From the Veaches to the Crawfords. From Cruiserworks to you, the customer. We are proud to say that Cruiserboots are designed in the USA, made in South America, the Dominican Republic to be exact, and shipped Worldwide! |

I guess they had trouble with geography. The Dominican Republic is part of the island of Hispanola in the Caribbean. It is definitely NOT part of South America. I do know they were looking for an American manufacturer but I guess they couldn't find one who could match the quality they were looking for at the price point they were looking for. Damned shame... It's still a good boot. |

The zcustom boots have ankle padding, double reinforced heel and toes, and also shin padding, and available with carbon kevlar plates on shin and ankle, and with toe "sliders", velcro style. Standard heights 12 to 14 inches. |

I can vouch for Z-Custom. I had Adolph make my leathers and Sunny bought a pair of his boots 4 years ago. Not certain if the new ones are still made here any longer but you ought to ask. Z is still a SMALL company (relatively speaking) Because of the DEMAND for cheaper products, he will be outsourcing some "off the rack" stuff from China but the custom stuff will still be made in Long Beach. Shoot him an email through the website, tell him Slaughter (Lavin-Yurassov Racing) told you to ask... |

I stopped in the local Red Wing store today and was greatly disappointed. All of their "motorcycle" line of boots are made in China. They do have some of their work boot line still made in the U.S. It's easy to tell which ones, just check the price. Even willing to pay the higher price I had a hard time finding one that I wanted. The salesman said they were water resistant, but not waterproof. They do make waterproof boots, but they seem to be partial to brown and I wanted black. I have started to wonder if I am being rational about this. I want to support the U.S. economy by buying U.S. made products, and I really don't want Chinese made stuff, but in reality I buy Chinese made stuff all the time. There is almost no way to avoid it. But in most areas of my life I admit I don't work as hard to avoid it. For example, if I was buying a pair of dress shoes instead of motorcycle boots, I probably wouldn't give a second thought to where they were made. Well, I might check to see if they were made in China, but even if they were if I really liked them I'd probably still buy them. I am tempted to throw my hands up and just buy a pair of boots I like that have the features I want regardless of where they were made. ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! |

I bought boots last year from a company call prexport. It is an Italian Co. so I am assuming they are made in Italy. There is a U.S.importer, the website is Prexportusa.com. I was using Tactical boots but they just did not stand up. The Prexports I bought have a wp designation on them meaning they are waterproof. So far they have worked out quite well, very comfortable and easy to get on and off. They are also very reasonably priced. I had originally been looking at Sidi Canyons but just couldn't bring my self to pay that much. Bob |

I've got a pair of Corbin boots that I've had for about 7-8 yrs now, very comfortable & still look new. These were made in the USA. I haven't checked their website so not sure they are still even sold. |

Zcustom boots ARE MADE IN USA, they make 'em themselves here in CA. That's what they told me. A part of why I ordred from them. Plus, I have a hard time fitting my feet, and they are custom built. A foot tracing of each foot, and 4 or 5 different measurements. |

Look fine. Personally, I avoid waffle soles for motorcycling as I don't think motorcycle boots benefit from them. I have had the lugs hang up a bit when I was trying change the foot position. I like a smoother sole but still with good traction so they stick well but can move quickly with no hang ups. The lugs on these seem shallow so that is better than deep lugs. |

I was in a similar situation a few months back. I ended up with Italian made Sidi boots. Expensive, but great! |

Danner co mfg's most their boots in Portland Ore. The "Ft Lewis" is one, among many models to look at. Not cheap ($250 range) but they guarantee their stuff. My brother has put 8 years and 100,000 mi on a pair (riding his Harley - not walking)they look good and still dont leak in the wet weather. Good investment. |
