More terrible news from Irish road racing I'm afraid. Robert Dunlop, brother of the late great Joey, lost his life in an accident during practice for the NorthWest 200 today. Robert sustained fatal injuries when his 250 honda appeared to seize in one of the fastest sections of the course, he is reported as having been struck by a following rider after being thrown from his bike, sustaining severe chest injuries. Rest In Peace Robert. |

I was just devastated by this news earlier today. I think the entire Irish racing fraternity is in shock after these terrible accidents at the first two meetings of the year. RIP Robert |

This is more bad news.. I know the community can recover, but for now there must be such a pall over the entire series.. My thoughts & prayers go out to another family that have lost a loved member.. |

Roberts son Michael went out today and won th e250 race at the Northwest 200 in stirring fashion. It was a battle all the way with the second place rider and very brave indeed. I think Joey's son also raced. Tears were flowing all over Ulster as well over 100,000 people saw Michael win. |
