Slightly better throttle response, slightly smoother under 4,000 rpm. WFO, same. Possibly 2mpg improvement, as shown in av. on dash, wasn't backed by calcs on first tankful, I'll give it one or two more tanks to confirm. Only complaint,(minimal and probably inconsequential) Hunts around a bit at idle now, 12 to 14 hundred, didn't do this that I noticed before. Smoother, but JUST, at cracked throttle cruising. SO, a success, and if the 2 mpg improvement is true, then WELL worth it. (BUt with the ridiculously and criminally inflated price of gas, I would like better, of course...) Fan runs less after shut off, and don't notice the fuel pump running on FOREVER anymore. |

I forgot to mention the best part. The power hole when whacking the throttle open at low rpms is gone. It just picks up smoothly now and hauls. Jack |

JPfive, do you have the 'noid connected? |

Yes, the 'noid is connected. However, my dealer has had to reposition it slightly due to an earlier problem when it was causing my throttle to bind. Jack |

picked up 3 mpg on my 2nd tank, by calcs, and the av. on the dash showed it by the end of the day. I'm getting 33mpg now. SOme babying and some hard running mixed. The usual. |

Bigblock mentioned the hunting at idle. The ECM will now increase idle in response to battery voltage, and also some temperature conditions. Mine will surge slightly immediately after start, and then settle down. So far, I have not seen it do this at any other time. Jack |

well just got done doing a few changes to mine. unhooked the servo, and locked the butterfly springs. guess i will have to see if it smooths out any now. checked the afv and its 100 front and 105 rear. thats the first time they have been anything but 100/100. i do have a front 02 sensor code though. |

Just noticed my AFV has finally changed - for the worse. Was expecting something near 90s for my 5000+ elevation. Got same as No_rice - 100F, 105R Popcorn machine |

After over 400 miles now data logged, I've only come up with the following. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS ONLY A TEST, NOT RECOMMENDATIONS! This test was and is continuing to be done on my personal 4k mile 1125 that I purchased back in Jan 08. It is a Dec 07 build. It does have the reflash. The only relevant test mods that have been done are locking the throttle 1:1, disconnecting the throttle noid and testing with and without the stock air box inlet location. I've also added the wide band weld bungs for the Fast Dual Wideband Meter, wrapped the entire length of both primary tubes and insulated the interior of the fuel cell/frame. The wideband meter is KNOWN ACCURATE AND THE O2'S ARE NEW. There is also a poor man's dyno aboard, Gtech accelerometer that I feel is more accurate than my butt dyno. The closed loop fueling values that coinside with the rpm ranges and or load points that exhibit bucking/studdering and or hesitations...are just flat lean. I've witnessed momentary values that exceed 18+:1 and have been repetitively noted when these conditions occur. Open loop values are a ok. Above 4k, she's happy. I don't want to get into an argument about why I believe my bike is so lean...as the emissions questions/comments and the lack of a catalyst would not be a win win topic. I also do not want to just sit idle and await a fuel tuner...as that is just going around the legality issues noted above, another no win win topic. I will however, post what I find with two more expensive pieces of test and tune equipment being slated for install within the next two weeks...along with an enrichment test to absolutely feel the difference...but don't try this at home! If nothing else, I am going to understand this machine at the end of all this! Ride safe, mm |
