When I arrived home with my new XT on Saturday I unlocked the downhill side sidecase to remove the stuff I had put in it. I unlocked the latch and lifted it and the case flopped open. The stuff I had in it was all in the lid portion and the force of the case flopping open snapped one of the lid support "cords". I vaguely recall this happening to another BadWeBber but a cursory search got no hits. Are these parts available (I'll take a dozen!) or should I engineer a better solution? |

They are called decklehatlers. Here is a thread on the same topic. There is also a reference within this thread to other options. Good luck. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/305494.html |

I had both 'halters' on the downhill bag snap last week. Dealer is looking for replacements, which appear to be pretty difficult to obtain. They called yesterday to tell me that if they cannot get the 'halters' by the end of next week, they will warranty-replace the whole bag (which is readily available). Mark in Arizona |

Your friendly Buell dealer should now be able to order these cords. The cords are in the 08 XT parts book with a part number that is now in the H-D system. That was not the case when I first inquired. The parts book number was not in the H-D system. My local dealer, Smoky Mountain H-D/Buell, followed up with H-D which then added the cords to the "system." Thank Smoky Mountain H-D/Buell for your help. |

I was able to find them after a google search for Hepco-Becker found me a BMW dealership in my state. After a couple of emails exchanged I have a full set of four ordered for $5 apiece. |
