The bike has three modes regarding the pin set up:

Always, Ask and Never.

You can select between them.

Grab your owner's manual.

Did you give your dealer your PIN when you dropped the bike off for service? If not, I imagine they were pretty pissed when it came time to road test!

You should be able to re-initialize the system, check your manual. I'd have to look myself, but something in the back of my brain is chanting "valet mode" or "service mode"....

My battery completely died on me recently (hit a low of around 6V and had to jump start the bike).

Once recharged, my immobilizer worked as before--- asked me for my PIN and everything... when you go from theft mode OFF back to theft mode ON, I believe the bike asks for your PIN code--- did you, perhaps, not engage theft mode "ON" correctly?

Ive found that mine is opposite from what it says. ask works as ask, but for me to completely disable the security, I have to set it to "on at key off" and to activate it, I have to set it to "off at key off." I switched it back and forth a couple times, but the only way I could disable it was to set it to "on". maybe Im dyslexic, but that seems counter-intuitive to me.

Just an FYI, I had the same thing occur to me... Security system defunct after service.
The irony is that they were investigating charging issues and claimed to have found no problems, but replaced the battery anyway.

Eventually the bike was dead again on the new battery and I had to charge it up with a charger (not tender).

After that the security system worked again.

Definately have a trend going here,

Back in March, took my bike in for service on an unrelated problem (leaky clutch), it was in the "ASK" mode.

When I got it back, it was in the "NEVER" mode. About a week later, put it on a battery tender overnight. The next day, to my surprize, the bike went back to "ASK" mode and still had my original code.

When I got mine back, I tried every security setting and regardless of the mode, the system would not arm or ask for a code.

What good is a security system that doesn't work when the battery is fiddled with or drained?
