I bought my 9r two weeks before this past Christmas. I know the can is not stock. It resembles the Special ops but I don't think it is either. The special ops has duals which come from the center at the back. Mine are duals that come from the side at the back.
There is one on the opposite side as well. |

Is it the Latus? Have looked at the pics on American Sport Bikes Exhaust Shootout... It could just be a homemade job. not a purchased one. Better photos may help |

If the race can can be used with a K&N and the stock ECM we may have a wiener. |

Unless it was remapped. But I know it's not stamped with "For Race Use Only". I would have to take it to a tech to find out if it was remapped I would guess. |

Well i guess there is no need to post the pic i took. The can looks exactly like Elff's and Damnut's. Now I can actually tell people what it is rather than "dunno, came with the bike". You guys are awesome, thanks. Now for the ECM...I do know a Harley tech was the previous owner. Thoughts on whether or not he had it remapped? |

He may have installed the whole race kit, which would include a race ECM and a reusable air filter. If that is the case, you are good to go...Lucky... |

If he didn't put a Race ECM in it the Check Engine light would be on. Unless he added a Servo Emulator. If you don't have an Emulator then you have the Race ECM. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9313.html |

Damnut, it's a 9R, no servo. My first 'Bolt was white. Nice bike, there, and welcome to the (somewhat dysfunctional) family. |

Ways to tell: #1: take your front plastic off, look at the ECM box (its center front, behind the headlights) -- a race ECM should say "Race ECM" and/or "RACE ONLY" on it as far as I know (correct me if I am wrong guys). #2: take your airbox cover and innner airbox off -- if there is a K&N in there your previous owner probably did a full treatment, including a re-map or Race ECM. Also, since K&N filters need maintained it's good to know if you have one in there. Nice looking bike! |

Thanks on the comments...I've had the bike long enough to play with it's guts a bit. It was red when I bought it. When I pulled the front fairing to do the plastic swap I took a look at the ECM figuring it may be the Race because I knew the exhaust wasn't stock and I'd been in the airbox to clean the filter and found it was a K&N. Unless the stamp is on the side that is up against the bike itself, I don't remember seeing it stamped as a race ECM. I may have missed it though. Jim- the spikes turned out really nice. I painted them black to off set the white. Thanks again. |

You can run a race can an k&n filter without the race ecm just fine. I put 35k on mine with no problems. |
