Whats up guys and gals. Was out and about today, enjoying the roads, got a little dirty so i decided to clean her up good. Took her apart and scanned over her just briefley and found that there was fuel on top of the rear cylinder. 'This isnt right, fuel is supposed to be 'IN' the cylinder' I said to myself with bewilderment. Looked around and looked around some more, nothing. Last ditch efort, I figured I would charge the fuel system and to my surprise, found the leak. The culprit was the fuel line. If you choose to investigate yourself, you will notice a fuel line that feeds the rear cylinder injector. This fuel line is 'swedged' onto a 'T' union that also feeds the front cylinder. At this so called swedge, is where my fuel was coming from. It is a very small amount, lets say a drop every 5 mins or so, but when it drips onto a warm cylinder and the vapors expand, it could permiate a fierce fuel smell. This could be a possible source for some of the 'fuel smell' problems. Easy fix was to just throw on a zip tie or hose clamp (be sure not to tighten the hose clamp down to tigh because this conector is plastic). Hope this works.

I'll take a look on mine. Any possibility of clear photos?

Just a suggestion...as you seem to already have "corrected" this issue yourself...

Call your local dealer, carefully explain your experience and what you have done to hold over a two week wait for warranty corrections...have them order what is ness'y and schedule a one day thrash under warranty to make sure all is good on your ride.

I approached the same on a different warranty issue and my bike was not out of service for very long at all as a result.

THEN..have the dealer send your old ill parts back to BMC for research and or possible other future situations as yet, unknown of.

Doing this might help the rest of the 1125R's owners.

Doing this WILL help the BMC 1125R effort.

None the less, thank you for sharing and I'm sure everyone and their brother will look at this area of your concern/findings.

Mike,

Thanks for the tip... definitely worth checking.

BTW, it was great meeting you the other day at Independence HD.

Cheers,
Takis

Definately worth checking, but I know for sure mine was gas boiling blowing out the vent tube. Since putting heat reflectant tape on the inside frame rail near the cylinder head, all the way down to the bottom of the frame in that same area, no more gas boiling, no more garage filled with gas smell. : ) Cost me $3 at the autoparts store, about an hour, and a couple nice knuckle scrapes...
