Those of you with an interest in real road racing may have heard of Martin Finnegan one of the true greats in the world of road racing. It is with great sadness that I have to report that Martin died while competeing in the Tandragee 100 in Armagh on Saturday. Martin had won an earlier race and was killed as a result of an accident in a later race in which three spectators were also injured - thankfully none are reported to have life threatening injuries. Martin leaves a young wife and daughter. Sympathies go out to Martin's family, friends and team. RIP Martin Finnegan a great champion. |

A sad thing, racing events run over public roads are such an incredibly wonderful but dangerous thing. My sympathy to all. Some more background on Martin Finnegan and details here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/motorbi kes/7382870.stm And on the accident itself which happened in a SuperSport 600 event: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_irelan d/7382036.stm Jack |
